We are seeking a Software Engineer I to join our team for this hybrid opportunity out of our Waltham, MA office!
Job Summary
The Software Engineer I is a member of the cloud platform team and will focus on Java development of our cloud-based services that support Imprivata's Patient Access, Mobile Access and Enterprise Access Management products. This role is responsible for shaping the design, creation, and deployment of distributed, highly scalable cloud solutions. Partnerships with cross-functional teams and contributors will be a key aspect of the work to develop resilient, dependable, and high-performant software.
Duties and Responsibilities
- Deliver releases, functionality, and updates on schedule, with scope defined by Product Management.
- Develop new features and maintain existing features under the guidance of more senior engineers.
- Debug and fix defects identified internally and by customers.
- Produce code that is amenable to automated testing and integration within CI/CD pipelines.
- Engage effectively with internal teams and contributors to gather and refine software requirements.
- Ensure the reliability and performance of software under varying levels of scale and load.
- Learn and apply cloud technologies and best practices.
- Other duties as assigned and required.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in computer science or a related field.
- 1-3+ years of overall development experience
- Solid foundational Java programming skills using object-oriented principles and data structures
- Basic knowledge of cloud-native technologies, including containers and container orchestration systems
- Familiarity with RESTful Web APIs, JSON, web services, and Unix/Windows environments
- Experience with cloud-based databases and data persistence (e.g. RDS, PostgreSQL, MySQL, Aurora)
- Demonstrated ability to build robust, reliable, and high-performance software
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, and the ability to interact well with internal teams
- Experience working in an agile scrum environment
- Understanding of the continuous integration practice
Desired
- Experience with microservices on a major cloud platform (e.g. AWS, Google, or equivalent) is a plus
- Familiarity with gRPC framework and OpenAPI specification is a plus
- Understanding of security concepts, especially multi-factor authentication
This position offers a salary range of $94,500.00 to $111,800.00 (inclusive of variable compensation such as bonuses and incentives). In addition, more information about Imprivata's benefit offerings can be found here . This salary range represents the high and low end of Imprivata's salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and may be above or below the range based on various factors, such as a candidate's location, skills, experience, and qualifications.
