Job Description:

At Regions, the Software Engineer Group Manager oversees application development for two or more large departments within the company and manages all aspects of system design, development, deployment, acquisition, and ongoing maintenance for all application systems within area of responsibility.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Serves as the primary technology contact for senior management from all areas of the organization in developing technology solutions that increase the efficiency of internal business functions, resolves business problems, and supports the pursuit of business opportunities for area of responsibility
  • Creates and refines operational processes and systems to ensure effective regulatory and audit compliance
  • Applies interdisciplinary, collaborative approach to plan, design, develop, and verify basic lifecycle balanced system of systems and system solutions
  • Evaluates customer and operational needs to define system performance requirements, integrates technical parameters, and assures compatibility of all interfaces
  • Supports the planning, organization, implementation, and monitoring of requirements through management processes

This position is exempt from timekeeping requirements under the Fair Labor Standards Act and is not eligible for overtime pay.

This position is incentive eligible.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field
  • Ten (10) years of relevant experience
  • Five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience

We are seeking a seasoned Senior Software Engineering Manager to lead a high-performing development team supporting the Risk Management function at Regions Bank. This role is pivotal in driving the design, development, and delivery of technology solutions that enable the bank to effectively identify, assess, and mitigate risk across its operations.

The ideal candidate will combine strong technical leadership with deep experience in software engineering, agile methodologies, and stakeholder collaboration. This role will be responsible for managing engineering resources, aligning technology initiatives with business goals, and ensuring the delivery of scalable, secure, and compliant systems.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead, mentor, and grow a team of software engineers and technical leads.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, accountability, and continuous improvement.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews and career development planning.

Technology Strategy & Execution

  • Collaborate with Risk Management stakeholders to understand business needs and translate them into technical solutions.
  • Drive the architecture and implementation of risk-related platforms, including credit risk, operational risk, compliance, and enterprise risk systems.
  • Ensure systems are scalable, secure, and aligned with regulatory requirements.

Project & Delivery Management

  • Oversee the full software development lifecycle, from requirements gathering to deployment and support.
  • Manage project timelines, budgets, and resource allocation.
  • Champion agile practices and ensure timely delivery of high-quality software.

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Partner with enterprise architecture, infrastructure, data governance, and cybersecurity teams.
  • Communicate effectively with senior leadership and business partners.
  • Represent technology in risk governance forums and audits.

Additional Preferences

  • 8+ years of experience in software engineering, with at least 3 years in a leadership role.
  • Experience in financial services or risk management domains.
  • Strong understanding of modern development frameworks, cloud technologies, and data platforms.
  • Familiarity with risk analytics, modeling, and reporting tools.
  • Experience with cloud platforms (Azure, AWS, GCP).
  • Knowledge of DevOps practices and CI/CD pipelines.
  • Agile certifications (e.g., Scrum Master, SAFe) are a plus.

Regions will not sponsor applicants for work visas for this position. Applicants for this position must be currently authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis.

This position is intended to be onsite, now or in the near future. Associates will have regular work hours, including full days in the office three or more days a week.  The manager will set the work schedule for this position, including in-office expectations.  Regions will not provide relocation assistance for this position, and relocation would be at your expense.  This position must be within a reasonable driving distance to Birmingham, AL, Atlanta, GA or Charlotte, NC.

Compensation Details

Pay ranges are job specific and are provided as a point-of-market reference for compensation decisions. Other factors which directly impact pay for individual associates include: experience, skills, knowledge, contribution, job location and, most importantly, performance in the job role. As these factors vary by individuals, pay will also vary among individual associates within the same job.

The target information listed below is based on the Metropolitan Statistical Area Market Range for where the position is located and level of the position.

$225,839.90 USD

Median:

$305,910.00 USD

Incentive Pay Plans:

This role is eligible to participate in the annual discretionary incentive plan. Employees are eligible to receive a discretionary award based on individual, business, and/or company performance.Opportunity to participate in the Long Term Incentive Plan.
