About the Role:

Since early 2019, Dow Jones has been pioneering AI-generated story creation based on real-time market data with great success. Our readers not only want, but need, timely, accurate, and personalized coverage. Now, we are seeking an enthusiastic engineer to work alongside our business stakeholders, product owners, and developers to further explore opportunities to automate and personalize the content experience. Your team will be responsible for designing, building and maintaining services that manage AI content across all of Dow Jones. Existing services consist of front and backend applications that solve a wide range of problems in the text generation space. We’re looking for a self-starter who is willing to explore and learn about existing services, while also working to create new greenfield applications. 

You Will: 

  • Engage actively in the News Automation team's efforts in automated language generation

  • Be part of a team generating over 700 AI-authored articles daily

  • Contribute to automated publishing efforts for other Dow Jones brands, including Dow Jones Newswires, MarketWatch, Barron’s, and Mansion Global

  • Work with template-driven and ML-driven AI technologies in the media and publishing sector

  • Work on delivering user-facing content for News Corp products, utilizing technologies like AWS, Node.js, React, and others as required

You Have:

  • A Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or equivalent

  • 0-3 years of hands-on development experience

  • Fluency with Node.js, Typescript, and Python

  • Experience with cloud computing via AWS or another cloud provider

  • Familiarity with Large Language Models

  • Experience with Agile Development methodologies (Kanban)

  • Strong understanding of software best-practices as it applies to web application development

  • Proven ability to analyze, decompose, and estimate effort associated with various technical solutions

Additional preferred experience:

  • C# and .NET Core

  • Terraform, CloudFormation or other infrastructure as code solution

  • Docker, Elastic Beanstalk or other cloud or container based application deployment

Pay Range: $85,000 - $105,000
