Position Overview

We are seeking a highly skilled Software Engineer with expertise in Python, AWS, and coding best practices who is also passionate about ensuring production systems run smoothly. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in software development, cloud computing, and production support engineering. You will be responsible for developing and maintaining scalable software solutions as well as supporting them in production to ensure reliability and uptime.

Key Responsibilities

  • · Design, develop, and maintain high-quality software solutions using Python.
  • · Utilize AWS services to build, deploy, and operate applications in the cloud.
  • · Own and manage Python-based data pipelines, ensuring data quality and performance.
  • · Monitor and support production systems, respond to incidents, and drive root cause analysis to prevent recurrence.
  • · Participate in an on-call rotation to provide timely resolution for production issues.
  • · Implement observability practices (logging, monitoring, alerting) to proactively identify and resolve issues.
  • · Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define, design, and ship new features.
  • · Write clean, maintainable, and efficient code.
  • · Perform code reviews and provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • · Stay up-to-date with the latest industry trends and technologies to ensure our solutions remain current and competitive.

Who You Are

  • · Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • · 5+ years of experience in software development.
  • · Proven experience delivering solutions on AWS.
  • · Experience with production support activities such as incident response, root cause analysis, and system monitoring.
  • · Understanding of software development best practices, including design patterns, coding standards, and ELT/ETL standards.
  • · Excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to work independently or as part of a team.
  • · Strong communication skills and the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.

Preferred Skills

· Experience with web development technologies such as Node.js, React, or Vue.js.

  • · Familiarity with microservices architecture and RESTful API design.
  • · Experience with CI/CD tools like Jenkins, GitLab CI, or CircleCI.
  • · Experience with containerization (Docker) and orchestration (Kubernetes).
  • · Knowledge of database systems, both SQL and NoSQL.
  • · Experience with monitoring and logging tools like CloudWatch, ELK Stack, or Datadog.
  • · Familiarity with SRE principles and practices for building reliable systems.
 

The final salary offered to a successful candidate will be dependent on several factors that may include but are not limited to the type and length of experience within the job, type and length of experience within the industry, education, etc. Base pay is one part of the Total Package that is provided to compensate and recognize employees for their work, and this role may be eligible for additional discretionary bonuses/incentives, and restricted stock units. Veracyte is a multi-state employer, and this salary range may not reflect positions that work in other states.

Pay range
$135,000$160,000 USD
