About The Role

Hi, I’m Nakisa, Director of Engineering at Jane. I’ve been at Jane for just under three years, and I currently lead our Billing and Clinical engineering groups. Before Jane, I led engineering teams at Brex, Atlassian, and CA Technologies, and across those experiences one thing has stayed constant for me - I care deeply about building cohesive, high performing teams that solve meaningful problems for customers. You can also find me on LinkedIn.

This role sits within our Clinic Finances and Products space, which is in the middle of an exciting evolution. We’re splitting one team into two focused teams - Invoicing and Purchasables - and hiring two Development Managers to help lead that next chapter. Both teams are deeply connected to Jane’s mission to help the helpers. They build and evolve products clinics rely on to understand their finances, take payments, manage invoices, and offer products like packages, memberships, and gift cards. Those are meaningful, customer-facing problems with real business impact.

What makes this role especially exciting is the balance. You’ll be joining a strong cross-functional group and stepping into a team with healthy relationships, smart engineers, and important work already underway. At the same time, there's a real opportunity to raise the bar - on accountability, technical quality, systems thinking, and delivery. Some of this work is foundational and highly interconnected. Some of it is strategic and customer-facing. All of it matters.

What Impact We’re Looking for You to Make
  • Build a healthy, accountable team environment where people feel supported, challenged, and motivated to do their best work together.

  • Partner closely with Product and Design to bring clarity to ambiguous problems, align the team around priorities, and translate strategy into practical, iterative plans.

  • Raise the bar on ownership, delivery, and technical quality by helping the team make thoughtful decisions, address root causes, and follow through on meaningful outcomes.

  • Coach and grow experienced engineers, including senior and staff-level developers, with empathy, direct feedback, and a genuine commitment to their development.

  • Contribute as a strong technical and cross-functional partner who can engage in the details when needed, zoom out to understand system-wide impact, and help the team create reliable, delightful experiences for customers.

  • Lead by example in embedding AI into day-to-day team practices to accelerate delivery and improve decision quality

What Experience We Need
  • Experience leading engineering teams as an established manager, able to hit the ground running from day one.

  • Strong people leadership experience, including hiring, coaching, performance management, and supporting the growth of senior and staff-level engineers.

  • A solid technical foundation that allows you to partner credibly with developers, ask good questions, assess tradeoffs, and advocate for quality, reliability, and maintainability.

  • Experience leading cross-functional work with Product and Design, balancing technical investment with roadmap commitments, and helping teams move forward through ambiguity.

  • Experience delivering complex software in interconnected domains, with good judgment about when to go deep, when to delegate, and how to keep teams aligned and accountable.

  • Experience coaching teams on effective AI usage, helping engineers develop strong prompting/critique habits and sharing patterns that improve consistency and decision-making

If you don’t meet every single qualification but are excited about this role, we’d still love to hear from you.

More About Jane

Jane is a founder-led, high-growth SaaS company born in North Vancouver, British Columbia. We’re now a team of more than 700 people working remotely across Canada, the US, and the UK, united by our mission to help the helpers.

We build the products and tools that thousands of clinics rely on every day to run their businesses, care for their patients, and grow their communities. That level of impact means every person at Jane plays an important role in how we show up for our customers. We’re all responsible for being deeply connected to their needs, obsessed with improving their experience, and proud of the difference our work makes in their day-to-day lives.

Jane is growing fast, and that growth brings exciting challenges that call for adaptability, resilience, learning agility, and humility. We’re proud of what we’ve built and quick to admit what we don’t know yet. We listen, learn, and adjust as we go.

We’re also embracing the possibilities of AI, using it to work smarter, improve our systems, and create even better experiences for our customers and our team.

Our goal isn’t just delivery, it’s delight. We move quickly, communicate openly, and solve real problems together. If you’re energized by ambiguity, motivated by impact, and eager to learn with others, you’ll thrive at Jane.

Compensation & Benefits

At Jane, we’re committed to paying fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has an annual salary range of $158,400 to $247,500. While that is a large range, it is intentional. It reflects the full growth journey someone might take in the role, from developing skills early on to becoming highly proficient and ultimately achieving excellence.

Most new hires join at the accomplished stage, which for this role represents an annual salary of $188,100. A starting salary below this typically indicates a candidate with strong potential who is still developing key skills. Salaries above this usually apply to existing team members who have made a significant impact and bring deep Jane-specific knowledge.

We believe in paying for growth. You’ll have regular career development conversations with your manager and your compensation will grow as you gain experience and contribute meaningfully to our mission.

Paying clearly is one of our compensation fundamentals. Watch this short video to learn how our salary bands are set. You’re also encouraged to ask questions about compensation at any point during the interview process.
