About the teamZillow Experience Design (ZxD) helps teams across Zillow build useful, accessible, and cohesive experiences across web and mobile. Within ZxD, the Design Foundations team creates and evolves Zillow’s iOS design system, giving product teams the shared components, patterns, and standards they need to build high-quality experiences more efficiently for millions of customers.

About the role

As a Software Development Engineer, iOS, you’ll help shape the design system behind Zillow’s iOS experience and the reusable components that product teams rely on every day. This role offers the chance to grow your iOS engineering career while partnering with design, product, and engineering to improve quality, consistency, and speed across Zillow’s mobile experiences. You’ll also work in a modern development environment that thoughtfully incorporates AI-assisted tools into everyday engineering workflows.

You Will Get To

  • Build and improve reusable iOS components, patterns, and tooling that support Zillow’s design system and product experiences.

  • Contribute to the implementation and architecture of design system features, writing high-quality Swift with strong testing practices.

  • Use AI-assisted development tools thoughtfully, applying sound judgment about when to rely on generated output and when to validate it independently.

  • Help define and uphold iOS standards, including accessibility best practices.

  • Support testing strategies, code quality improvements, and regular releases to partner teams.

  • Diagnose and resolve integration issues for teams adopting Constellation and other shared system capabilities.

  • Create documentation and educational content that help partner teams adopt the design system more effectively.

  • Collaborate with design, product, and engineering partners to stay aligned on roadmap priorities and improve the developer and designer experience.

This role has been categorized as a Remote position. “Remote” employees do not have a permanent corporate office workplace and, instead, work from a physical location of their choice, which must be identified to the Company. U.S. employees may live in any of the 50 United States, with limited exceptions.

In California, Connecticut, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Washington state, and Washington DC the standard base pay range for this role is $136,300.00 - $217,700.00 annually. This base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations. In Colorado, Hawaii, Illinois, Maine, Minnesota, Nevada, Ohio, Rhode Island, Vermont, and Virginia the standard base pay range for this role is $129,500.00 - $206,900.00 annually. The base pay range is specific to these locations and may not be applicable to other locations.

In addition to a competitive base salary this position is also eligible for equity awards based on factors such as experience, performance and location. Actual amounts will vary depending on experience, performance and location. Employees in this role will not be paid below the salary threshold for exempt employees in the state where they reside.

Who you are
  • BS/MS in Computer Science, or equivalent practical experience.

  • 3+ years of professional software development experience.

  • Proficiency in Swift and SwiftUI, with strong familiarity with iOS platform conventions and Human Interface Guidelines.

  • Strong understanding of application performance, including concurrency, memory efficiency, and smooth scrolling.

  • A track record of delivering high-quality, maintainable code within deadlines.

  • Experience with build tools, testing frameworks, and CI/CD pipelines.

  • Experience using AI-assisted coding tools effectively, with good judgment about when generated output should be reviewed, tested, or revised.

  • Experience building accessible iOS experiences.
