Shopify Engineer - Remote only Canada profiles

Job Description:

We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Shopify Theme Engineer to design, develop, and maintain high-performance Shopify themes. As a key member of our e-commerce team, you will work closely with designers, developers, and marketing stakeholders to implement pixel-perfect front-end experiences that are fast, accessible, and optimized for conversion. You will use Shopify’s Liquid templating language, HTML/CSS, JavaScript, and modern frameworks to bring e-commerce experiences to life.

Primary Skill Set:
Technical Skills:

• Strong proficiency in Shopify’s Liquid templating language

• Proficient in HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript (ES6+), and JSON

• Experience with Shopify CLI, Theme Kit, or Git-based theme deployment workflows

• Knowledge of REST and GraphQL APIs (especially Shopify APIs)

• Experience with version control (Git, GitHub or GitLab)

• Understanding of responsive and cross-browser design

• Familiarity with modern JavaScript frameworks (e.g., React, Vue) is a plus

• Experience with performance optimization tools (Lighthouse, GTmetrix, etc.)

Design & UX:

• Ability to work from high-fidelity designs and translate them to pixel-perfect themes

• Strong attention to detail and UI/UX standards

• Understanding of conversion rate optimization (CRO) principles

Soft Skills:

• Excellent problem-solving and debugging skills

• Strong communication and collaboration abilities

• Ability to work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment

• Self-starter with the ability to manage multiple projects
