Would you like to work with a team that relies on your top-notch technical writing expertise to support a highly-technical and professional management focused team? Leidos is looking for a Senior IT Technical Writer to lead the creation of high-impact documentation for complex enterprise IT systems. This role involves interfacing with SMEs, engineers, and leadership to deliver clear, accurate, and compliant documentation that supports both internal operations and external stakeholders.
Primary Responsibilities:
Develop comprehensive documentation packages including system overviews, user manuals, configuration guides, API documentation, and training materials
Collaborate with cross-functional teams to gather technical information and identify documentation needs
Oversee the editorial lifecycle and documentation standards, ensuring accuracy and alignment with organizational policies and compliance requirements
Mentor junior writers and establish best practices in technical writing and document design
Lead documentation efforts for proposals, audits, and system accreditation processes (e.g., FedRAMP, RMF)
Basic Qualifications:
Bachelors degree and a minimum of (12)+ years of professional experience in IT technical writing
Proven track record producing technical content for enterprise IT programs or federal IT projects
Excellent project management and communication skills
Mastery of documentation tools and platforms such as: Adobe, Microsoft 365, SharePoint, and Visio
U.S. Citizen
Clearance Required:
Active DoD Secret clearance OR must be able to obtain an Interim Secret prior to start with Leidos.
Preferred qualifications:
Prior experience with DoD communication entities
Prior experience with working with multiple entities simultaneously
Prior experience with XML/HTML
Prior experience with developing technical data for DoD programs
Knowledge of federal standards and frameworks such as: NIST, RMF, ITIL, or CMMI

Pay Range:Pay Range $101,400.00 - $183,300.00The Leidos pay range for this job level is a general guideline only and not a guarantee of compensation or salary. Additional factors considered in extending an offer include (but are not limited to) responsibilities of the job, education, experience, knowledge, skills, and abilities, as well as internal equity, alignment with market data, applicable bargaining agreement (if any), or other law.
