Block is one company built from many blocks, all united by the same purpose of economic empowerment. The blocks that form our foundational teams - People, Finance, Counsel, Hardware, Information Security, Platform Infrastructure Engineering, and more - provide support and guidance at the corporate level. They work across business groups and around the globe, spanning time zones and disciplines to develop inclusive People policies, forecast finances, give legal counsel, safeguard systems, nurture new initiatives, and more. Every challenge creates possibilities, and we need different perspectives to see them all. Bring yours to Block.
The Role
The Entity Screening team at Block is responsible for building technologies that safeguard Block's ecosystems from sanctioned, criminal, and other high-risk entities. Sitting within the broader Compliance-focused technology organization, the Entity Screening team helps mitigate regulatory risk at scale so that Block's core businesses continue to innovate, grow, and bring economic empowerment to all.
As the Senior Technical Program Manager, you will work closely with product, data, engineering, and business stakeholders to build scalable infrastructure and tools that are used to screen and investigate millions of people and businesses. You will be hands-on, leading complex, technical projects to help your team deliver impact with precision and speed. As a platform expert, you will serve as your team's bridge to business stakeholders and advocate to internal customers. As a leader within the TPM function, you will operationalize best practices by implementing processes and programs across technical and functional domains, such as product development, planning, and change management.
You Will
  • Execution and Delivery: Oversee the planning and execution of complex, technical initiatives while managing risks and ambiguity with minimal guidance; coordinate release planning and change management across multiple teams
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Facilitate effective, cross-team collaboration across functions and roles spanning engineering, product, data science, operations, and Compliance leadership
  • Technical Comprehension: Maintain broad understanding of the team's technologies and articulate views that help drive technical decisions forward; identify technical risks and opportunities for optimization across Block's screening infrastructure
  • Business Enablement: Work with business stakeholders and core product teams to configure screening platform logic and enable new screening use cases
  • Customer Empathy: Serve as the primary point of contact for internal customers (e.g. users of internal tools); triage bug reports and resolve common user issues
  • Program Development: Identify, implement, and improve frameworks, automations, and processes that drive operational effectiveness, standardization, and governance across teams

You Have
  • 8+ years of technical program management experience with demonstrated ability to lead complex, cross-functional programs
  • Strong experience with agile methodologies and modern project management tools (JIRA, Confluence, etc.)
  • Demonstrated experience managing engineering sprints and development cycles
  • Strong technical background with deep understanding of system architectures, API integrations, and data flows
  • Proven track record of driving business unit-level decisions and managing complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong analytical skills with ability to break down complex problems and drive solutions
  • Experience building and implementing scalable operational processes
  • [Bonus] Experience with compliance or regulatory technology platforms
  • [Bonus] Knowledge of KYC/AML concepts, entity screening / identity systems, or financial crime prevention
  • [Bonus] Background in financial services or payments industry
  • [Bonus] Experience managing vendor relationships and third-party integrations
  • [Bonus] Track record of implementing technical controls and governance processes
