The stated pay range is based on a national-average location. Actual salary is determined by factors including relevant work experience, skills and location. This position is bonus eligible. Candidates and associates may be asked to travel to corporate offices for interviews, training and/or meetings. Work cannot be performed from outside of the United States.
CNO Financial Group’s Finance Department is hiring a Senior Tax Accountant to prepare quarterly provisions for life insurance and non-life insurance entities, review and prepare annual Federal and state income tax returns and serve as a tax code and audit compliance resource within CNO Financial Group’s corporate Tax Department. This role requires both general tax knowledge and financial services–specific expertise. In addition, the Senior Tax Accountant will assist in evaluating tax planning strategies, assess state income tax apportionment methods, and provide insight into the tax impacts of potential transactions.

As a Senior Tax Accountant, your responsibilities will include:
Perform tax code research, including financial services–specific tax matters.
Assist in analyzing and evaluating tax planning strategies as they arise.
Evaluate state income tax apportionment methodologies.
Analyze and communicate tax provision results internally with management and externally with auditors.
Assess tax impacts of reinsurance and other transactions.
Coordinate IRS and state audit compliance efforts.
Review required GAAP and statutory reporting disclosures related to tax balances.
Prepare and review quarterly tax provisions for life insurance and non-life subsidiaries.
Prepare, review, and file individual and consolidated Federal and state income tax returns.
The Senior Tax Accountant position is well suited for you if you:
Apply U.S. tax code knowledge, including financial services–specific regulations
Support IRS and state audit compliance activities
Communicate effectively with management and external auditors on tax matters
Demonstrate strong motivation to add value and continuously improve processes
Collaborate effectively across teams and communicate clearly with diverse stakeholders
Utilize tax research software to support analysis and compliance efforts
What you’ll need:
Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience.
5-10 years of tax accounting experience
Insurance and/or Financial Services industry experience
What will set you apart:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting
Experience in Insurance Industry
Candidate located in Indianapolis area open to a hybrid workstyle
Candidate location in Central or Eastern US time zone is preferred OR willingness to work Central or Eastern time zone business hours

Compensation
