Backed by Renovus Capital Partners, this partnership enhances our ability to deliver secure, scalable, and high-performance solutions to mid-market and enterprise clients.

Position Summary

We are seeking a Senior IBM Systems Engineer with deep expertise in IBM i Security, IBM Power Systems, and High Availability (HA) solutions. This is a senior-level, project-driven position that focuses on system engineering, design, and escalation support—not day-to-day ticket handling.

You will act as a technical subject matter expert across IBM i and AIX environments, collaborating with infrastructure and sales teams to design secure, efficient, and reliable solutions for clients. The ideal candidate will be an independent self-starter who thrives on complex problem-solving and continuous improvement within a collaborative, mid-sized technology organization.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and support projects involving IBM Power Systems, IBM i, and AIX infrastructure, ensuring performance, security, and reliability.
  • Serve as a level 2/3 escalation engineer, handling complex technical issues that frontline support cannot resolve.
  • Drive initiatives around IBM i security—including system hardening, auditing, and compliance best practices.
  • Implement and maintain High Availability (HA) solutions such as PowerHA, MIMIX, and SAN replication.
  • Partner with Sales and Service Delivery teams to assess solution feasibility, scope client projects, and recommend improvements.
  • Contribute to documentation and knowledge sharing through technical procedures, system diagrams, and project records.
  • Provide after-hours support for infrastructure emergencies or scheduled maintenance as needed.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of hands-on experience with IBM Power Systems environments (IBM i and/or AIX).
  • Proven background in IBM i Security and related auditing or compliance frameworks.
  • Strong understanding of HA technologies—PowerHA, MIMIX, SAN replication, etc.
  • Skilled in IBM i and VIOS installation, configuration, and upgrades.
  • Comfortable working independently on complex projects while collaborating with a distributed team.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and problem-solving abilities.
  • Bachelor’s degree preferred but not required—relevant experience and certifications will be valued equally.
  • IBM Power Systems or storage certifications are a plus.
  • MSP background helpful but not required.

Why Join CloudFirst / Performive

  • Be part of a growing, well-funded organization investing in cloud and security innovation.
  • Enjoy a remote, flexible role with meaningful, project-based work.
  • Access strong benefits and advancement opportunities, including:
    • 401(k) matching
    • Comprehensive health, dental, and vision insurance
    • Health Savings Account (HSA)
    • Generous paid time off
