Role Description

As a Senior System Engineer, you will spearhead the construction and implementation of FNZ CM Linux and Database environments within the AWS ecosystem. Your primary responsibility will involve providing adept support and continuous maintenance for FNZ CM client applications operating within the AWS environment.

Your role extends to the meticulous management of resources within an AWS environment, specifically focusing on Redhat deployments. Additionally, you will take charge of overseeing and maintaining various supported databases crucial to our operations (primarily Aurora / Postgres).

Collaboration will be a cornerstone of your role as you engage with Project Managers, outlining and estimating activities essential for environment builds. Your expertise will ensure accurate project planning and execution in alignment with our objectives, contributing significantly to the seamless functioning and expansion of our infrastructure within AWS.

Role Responsibilities

  • Administration of Linux variants, RHEL / OEL predominantly.
  • Administration of one of the Database variants listed (Aurora, PostgreSQL)
  • Maintaining backups and system monitoring
  • Scripting
  • Maintaining the networking layer within AWS in conjunction with Network Engineers

Experience Required

  • Demonstrated competency in the administration of AWS resources ((e.g. EC2, RDS, ELB, EBD, S3, VPC, Glacier, IAM), working in conjunction with AWS Cloud Engineers / Architects.
  • Tertiary qualifications in IT or Engineering OR comparable industry certification.
  • Good knowledge of Redhat systems administration, as well as Postgres / Aurora.
  • Networking knowledge and experience.
  • Demonstratable scripting experience i.e Shell, Python or Perl.
  • Strong communication skills – both written and verbal.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills with the ability to work independently or collaboratively as required.
  • Able to work in a team environment and mentor other administrators / SEs.
  • Able to work A/H, shifts & on call according to rostering (attractive allowances offered).
  • AWS experience and certifications are high desirable.
