What We Need: 

As Synapse continues to scale, we’re seeking a Senior System Administrator who will play a critical role in strengthening, securing, and scaling our technology foundation. This senior individual contributor will own complex projects from planning through execution, drive automation and efficiency across our IT environment, and ensure the reliability and security of the systems our teams depend on every day. 

This is a hands-on, highly collaborative role that combines deep technical expertise with cross-functional influence. You’ll partner closely with our VP of IT and stakeholders across the organization to manage critical infrastructure, improve automation and endpoint management, optimize vendor solutions, and shape how our systems evolve as we grow. 

What You Will Do: 

• Configure, administer, and optimize Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), Intune, and our broader Azure environment to support a secure, scalable workforce. 
• Lead multi-month IT initiatives from project planning and stakeholder communication through execution and delivery. 
• Develop and maintain automation scripts (primarily PowerShell) to streamline system administration, provisioning, and policy enforcement. 
• Support endpoint and device lifecycle management, including configuration, deployment, and security policies for a distributed workforce. 
• Drive the development and implementation of enterprise-wide IT policies and standards to enhance reliability, security, and compliance. 
• Manage and optimize relationships with third-party vendors (e.g., Atlassian, Paylocity, Greenhouse) and assist with procurement, contracts, and tool selection. 
• Provide Tier 3 escalation support and conduct root-cause analysis for complex technical issues. 
• Collaborate with internal teams on system integrations, application deployments, and infrastructure improvements. 
• Deliver clear technical communication around maintenance, upgrades, and outages. 
• Mentor junior IT staff, fostering growth and ensuring alignment with best practices. 

What You Have:

• A bachelor’s degree in computer science, IT, data science, or another related field/an equivalent combination of education and relevant experience. 
• 5+ years of professional experience in IT support, systems administration, or infrastructure engineering. 
• Proven success managing Azure Active Directory (Entra ID), Intune, and related Microsoft 365 infrastructure in a production environment. 
• Strong PowerShell scripting skills, with a track record of automating tasks, streamlining operations, and optimizing system performance. 
• Demonstrated experience owning and delivering multi-month projects, including building project plans, managing stakeholders, and influencing outcomes across teams. 
• Experience supporting and administering environments with 50+ users, including device provisioning, security policies, and endpoint lifecycle management. 
• Ability to collaborate effectively across technical and non-technical teams, including communicating technical recommendations, presenting solutions to leadership, and enabling users through clear guidance and support. 
• Proven capacity to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment while maintaining a high level of organization, attention to detail, and analytical rigor.

What Sets You Apart:   

• Experience with Meraki or other network/firewall configuration and management tools. 
• Exposure to Kandji or other Apple device management solutions. 
• Experience with Jira administration or configuration. 
• Hands-on experience managing and maintaining vendor relationships or administering third-party SaaS tools. 
• Familiarity with compliance frameworks (e.g., HIPAA, SOC 2) or other regulated environments. 
• Strong background in automation, infrastructure-as-code, or advanced scripting.
