Unusual Machines is a U.S.-based drone and drone parts company focused on the small and First-Person View (FPV) segments of the drone market. Our brands - Rotor Riot, Fat Shark, Rotor Lab and - coming soon - Upgrade Energy - are some of the most respected names in FPV and have helped shape the industry through e-commerce, product development, and a deep connection with the pilot community.

We’re expanding into enterprise and defense - bringing our obsessive attention to performance, design, and U.S.-based manufacturing into high-stakes environments like search and rescue and military innovation. With several of our products already approved by the Defense Innovation Unit, we’re solving procurement issues for customers who demand speed, agility, and compliance.

If you love working at the intersection of community, content, and cutting-edge technology, you’ll feel right at home here.

You in This Role

In this role, you’ll oversee multiple production teams responsible for the assembly, inspection, testing, and preparation of drone motors, ensuring quality, efficiency, and adherence to manufacturing standards. You’ll lead and develop frontline supervisors, establish operational consistency across teams, and serve as the primary escalation point for production, quality, safety, and workflow challenges.

This role requires a strong manufacturing leader who can develop other leaders, drive accountability, and translate production goals into measurable results. You’ll be responsible for ensuring supervisors have the tools, training, and direction needed to lead their teams effectively while maintaining high standards for precision, craftsmanship, and operational performance.

If you’re passionate about coaching leaders, improving manufacturing processes, and delivering mission-critical quality, you’ll thrive here. This is an opportunity to help scale a growing U.S.-based manufacturing operation and ensure our drone motor assemblies meet the performance, reliability, and quality standards required for real-world drone operations.

What You’ll Do
  • Lead and develop frontline supervisors responsible for drone motor assembly, inspection, testing, and production activities across multiple teams/shifts.
  • Operational Flexibility & Shift Rotation: To ensure comprehensive leadership coverage, the Senior Supervisor is required to work one full shift per week across all three operational shifts (1st, 2nd, and 3rd). The ideal candidate must possess the scheduling flexibility to dynamically allocate their time where business demands and team support are most critical
  • Drive accountability and performance by establishing clear expectations, monitoring results, and holding supervisors responsible for team productivity, quality, safety, and execution.
  • Manage production performance across teams to ensure schedules, output targets, and delivery commitments are consistently achieved without compromising quality.
  • Build leadership capability through coaching, mentoring, performance feedback, and development plans that strengthen supervisory effectiveness and team engagement.
  • Establish consistent operating standards by ensuring supervisors enforce standard operating procedures, work instructions, quality requirements, and established manufacturing processes.
  • Lead continuous improvement initiatives focused on increasing throughput, reducing defects and rework, improving workflow, and optimizing labor utilization.
  • Serve as the escalation point for complex production, quality, safety, staffing, and operational issues, coordinating appropriate resources to resolve problems.
  • Partner cross-functionally with Engineering, Quality, Maintenance, Supply Chain, and other stakeholders to address production constraints, resolve recurring issues, and improve manufacturing readiness.
  • Monitor and communicate key performance indicators (KPIs) such as production output, first-pass yield, defect rates, rework, labor efficiency, and schedule attainment.
  • Promote a culture of safety, quality, and continuous improvement by reinforcing accountability, process discipline, and consistent execution at every level of the organization.
What You’ll Bring
  • 3+ years Supervisor experience in manufacturing, production operations, electronics assembly, or a comparable technical environment.
  • Experience leading supervisors, team leads, or multiple production teams, with the ability to manage performance through other leaders.
  • Strong understanding of assembly operations, inspection processes, materials tracking, quality control, and production workflows.
  • Ability to interpret production data, identify performance gaps, and implement effective corrective and preventive actions.
  • Demonstrated ability to coach and develop leaders, manage performance, resolve conflicts, and build accountable teams.
  • Strong problem-solving, communication, organizational, and cross-functional collaboration skills.
  • Commitment to workplace safety, product quality, process discipline, and ESD compliance where applicable.
  • Familiarity with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root cause analysis, and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Ability to balance strategic oversight with hands-on engagement on the production floor when needed.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment where precision, reliability, and consistent execution are essential.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Experience managing multiple supervisors or production teams in a manufacturing environment.
  • Experience in drone motor assembly, electric motor manufacturing, electromechanical assembly, or electronics manufacturing.
  • Familiarity with motor components, precision assembly, electrical or mechanical testing, and product inspection.
  • Experience managing production KPIs, labor planning, staffing, throughput, quality, and delivery performance.
  • Familiarity with standard operating procedures (SOPs), ESD protocols, and manufacturing quality systems.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing, 5S, root cause analysis, corrective actions, and structured continuous improvement programs.
  • Experience scaling production operations, standardizing processes, or introducing new products into manufacturing.
Work Environment & Physical Requirements

This role operates in a manufacturing and electronics assembly environment with established safety procedures and ESD controls where applicable. The Manufacturing Supervisor is expected to maintain a visible presence on the production floor, coach and support frontline supervisors, assess operational performance, and ensure consistent adherence to safety, quality, and production standards.

  • Ability to stand or sit for extended periods.
  • Ability to walk the production floor regularly and observe manufacturing activities.
  • Ability to engage in hands-on process observations and support troubleshooting as needed.
