Stryker is seeking a Senior Staff DevOps Engineer. You will play a key role as part of our DevOps team, developing primarily on the AWS platform, as well as designing and implementing infrastructure as code for private/public cloud. You will be responsible for maintaining existing and new configuration management code and infrastructure. You will lead day to day operation of different SaaS products external as well as internal. We believe in automation of operational tasks and are seeking an operational engineer with a developer approach. You will work on a small team so the ability to learn quickly and work independently is critical for this role.

What You Will Do

  • Configure and administer production environments in AWS, Azure, and GCP and customer environments, ensuring high availability performance.

  • Develop and maintain CI/CD pipelines for smooth deployment from development to production, minimizing downtime during upgrades.

  • Collaborate with Engineering teams to negotiate code changes, support Dev and QA environments, and design operational metrics.

  • Monitor, troubleshoot, and fix operational issues across infrastructure components (databases, web servers), ensuring scalability and reliability.

  • Harden and secure production environments, manage access, and ensure compliance with industry standards (e.g., HIPAA, PCI).

  • Automate tasks and integrate new tools to improve deployment, monitoring, security, patching, and auditing for Windows and Linux-based systems.

  • Lead incident reviews and continuously improve operational environments through post-incident analysis and process optimization.

  • Demonstrate strong automation mentality, attention to detail, and effective communication with cross-functional teams to meet business needs.

What You Need (Required Qualifications)

  • BS Computer Science / Engineering or related field and 6+ years of experience maintaining applications and services on AWS (EC2, S3, Route53, CloudFront, CloudFormation, Lambda, EMR) including 3+ years in a DevOps role.

  • Experience setting up highly available and scalable databases, including MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, and MariaDB.

  • CI/CD experience with tools like Azure DevOps, Harness, GitHub or similar, including Stage/Production (Blue/Green/Canary) deployments.

  • Basic hands-on Linux and networking - concepts, design, and troubleshooting.

  • Hands-on experience with configuration/infrastructure automation using Ansible, Python, PowerShell, and Bash for both Windows and Linux environments.

  • Deep understanding of Docker and Kubernetes, including deployments, config maps, pods, ingress controllers, and load balancers (AWS EKS, Kops).

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience with software installation using package managers and migrating images from on-premises to cloud in Linux (RHEL) and Windows environments.

  • Public cloud or CNCF certifications are not required, but respected.

  • Strong experience with setting up highly available and scalable Databases using MySQL, Microsoft SQL Server, MariaDB a plus.

  • On-call work experience as needed.

$115,600 - $245,800 salary plus bonus eligible + benefits. Actual minimum and maximum may vary based on location. Individual pay is based on skills, experience, and other relevant factors.
