We are looking for a Senior Certification Engineer with a specialization in Complex Hardware and Software to join our Certification team. The primary objective of the Certification Team at Wisk is to ensure that we achieve Type Certification as well as support continued airworthiness and sustaining engineering efforts. The goal of the Certification Engineer is to help define a path to build and certify the first fully autonomous all-electric aircraft that performs and operates safely in an urban air-mobility environment.

This position is Remote in the US and will require travel as needed. 

The successful candidate is effective at developing and implementing cross-functional processes, to support the integration of design, production, and certification efforts across the organization. Candidates must be proactive, self-motivated, and forward thinking individuals that can lead engineers through critical regulatory requirements. We are seeking highly knowledgeable technical leaders, with hands-on experience in developing certifiable aircraft from initial concept through to Type and Production Certification. In this role, the ability to interface and communicate effectively across all engineering functions is required. We are seeking a self starting individual with a broad set of skills, a strong analytical mindset, and a passion for facing and solving complex technical challenges.

What you will do:

  • Coordination between FAA Certificate Management Section and Certification Branch Office for Production Certification meetings.

  • Lead compliance documentation review prior to FAA submittal.

  • Lead certification design review and assignment of applicable regulations.

  • Support development of supplier oversight and evaluation processes and procedures as it relates to compliance to DO-178 and DO-254.

  • Support the configuration management and enterprise systems team in developing tools and processes for regulatory compliance.

  • Coordinate development of means and methods of compliance for various aircraft systems.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in engineering or a related discipline.

  • At least twelve (12) years of experience working on aircraft Type Certification programs from concept to issuance of Type, Airworthiness, and Productions Certificates.

  • Working knowledge in at least one of the following 14 CFR Parts; 23, 25, 27 or 29.

  • Applied experience with Part 21 Production Certification processes and procedures.

  • Assurance that suppliers comply with DO-178 and DO-254 standards.

  • Experience with conceptualizing, authoring, and executing organizational-level processes and work-instructions.

  • Experience facilitating communication between applicants and the FAA on novel technologies and processes.

  • Additionally, the following are preferred:

    • Extensive experience working with suppliers to ensure compliance with DO-178 and DO-254 objectives.

    • Familiarity with implementing Configuration Management concepts and tools.

    • Familiarity with 14 CFR Part 23 (Amendment 64) Performance-Based Rules.

    • Working knowledge of the following FAA/Industry documents: AC 21-43A, Order 8110.4C, Order 8120.22A, AC 21-26A.

Compensation and Benefits:

Job Type: Full-time

Pay range the company expects to pay: $177,000 - $208,000 per year - The starting base salary within this range for this role varies based on factors such as your geographical location, and your relevant job-related experience that is consistent with a business necessity.
