Job Overview:
Do you want to be a part of something innovative and cutting edge? If your answer is yes, then join our team of more than a hundred software engineers, designers, project managers and software specialists that are smart, creative, and excited by what they do! Some of our ground-breaking work includes advanced computer-adaptive algorithms (only one that’s peer-approved in the country); mobile support for the user interfaces; learning management systems with social media features; user interfaces that are universally accessible to people with or without disabilities; innovative, machine-scorable items and that’s just to name a few. Cambium Assessment provides assessment services and technical assistance to school systems nationwide.
Job Responsibilities:
- Our systems serve as a custom-built content management system. Our applications are used by internal staff and external clients to create, edit, import/export, and persist complex data with very high criteria for correctness and robustness. We must adhere to external specifications while supporting operations like parallel editing of data and careful version control. This involves a lot of elaborate data transformation, static analysis, and validation code.
- All of our critical-path library code is custom built, with minimal dependencies. We rely on a lot of object-oriented and functional design patterns to ensure the correctness and longevity of our code.
- We build various UI applications/components that allow end-users to edit content. These require translating some very complex, specialized domains into user-friendly presentations and workflows.
- Our developers take on most UI design themselves. We often act directly with end-users and other teams to tease out requirements and develop UI/UX solutions.
- There are a lot of system interfaces, both within our own suite, across teams in the organization, and with external third parties. We foster a highly collaborative environment with a lot of smart people.
- Some of our systems are over a decade old, but still growing. We have continual opportunities for new development, as well as immediate needs for refactoring/rewrites. We're looking to adopt newer technologies in our development process to help build a foundation for further growth.
Job Requirements:
- Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science (or related field) and 5+ years professional front-end/.NET software development experience or Master's Degree in Computer Science and 3+ years of front-end/.NET software development experience
- Strong foundation in front-end development and design (JavaScript/TypeScript, CSS, HTML), preferably with experience in front-end frameworks such as Angular, React, Vue, or equivalent technologies
- Proficient in developing full-stack software applications
- Experienced in object oriented (OOP), along with a demonstrated professional knowledge in OO design
- Solid understanding of algorithms
- Experience developing restful web services and web APIs
- Detail-oriented with excellent problem-solving skills
- Good communication skills
- Self-starter, ability to work in a team environment as well as alone
Preferred Qualifications:
- SQL experience: development work with relational databases, stored procedures, triggers, writing SQL queries
- M.S. in Computer Science
- AWS
