About Us
Fieldguide is redefining trust in global commerce by modernizing how cybersecurity, privacy, and ESG audits are done. We build software that empowers the practitioners who enable trust between businesses — automating and streamlining their work to deliver faster, higher-quality results.
We’re based in San Francisco, CA, but built as a remote-first company that enables you to do your best work from anywhere. We're backed by top investors including Bessemer Venture Partners, 8VC, Y Combinator, Floodgate, Elad Gil, Justin Kan, Qasar Younis, Eric Ries, and more.
We value diversity — in backgrounds and in experiences. We need people from all backgrounds and walks of life to help build the future of audit and advisory. Fieldguide’s team is inclusive, driven, humble and supportive. We are deliberate and self-reflective about the kind of team and culture that we are building, seeking teammates that are not only strong in their own aptitudes but care deeply about supporting each other's growth.
As an early stage startup employee, you’ll have the opportunity to build out the future of business trust. We make audit practitioners’ lives easier by eliminating up to 50% of their work and giving them better work-life balance. If you share our values and enthusiasm for building a great culture and product, you will find a home at Fieldguide.
About the Role
We're looking for Senior, Staff, or Principal engineers to join our team. Depending on your interests and strengths, you might take on a tech lead role within an existing team or help us hire and build out new ones. You’ll have a strong voice in shaping our engineering culture, processes, and technical direction.
This is a chance to join early and have outsized impact at a company with clear product-market fit and massive growth potential. We're taking on legacy audit and accounting tools that are decades old, widely disliked, and ripe for disruption — despite generating billions in revenue with little modern competition.
What You'll Do
-
Drive the development of features from architecture to implementation, with a focus on maintainability and performance
-
Balance iteration speed with long-term quality, making thoughtful tradeoffs along the way
-
Continuously improve our tech stack, developer workflows, and team processes
-
Collaborate cross-functionally with PMs and designers to deliver lovable user experiences
You Should Have Experience With
-
Modern web tech stacks consisting of several of the following: TypeScript, React, GraphQL, NodeJS

Collaborating closely with product managers and designers to shape features and user experiences
-
Writing maintainable, well-tested code using test and automation frameworks like Jest and Cypress
-
Leading technical projects involving multiple contributors, with clear, proactive communication and a strong feedback culture
-
Following and contributing to engineering best practices around code quality, documentation, and system design
Not sure if you meet 100% of the requirements? We encourage you to apply even if your experience doesn’t match every bullet point. We’re looking for teammates who are eager to learn, grow with us, and bring new perspectives to the team.
Nice-to-have experience
None of these are required, but background in any of the following areas would be a bonus:
-
