• You are an experienced software engineer who enjoys working across all layers of a web application, from crafting intuitive user interfaces to building reliable, scalable systems. You thrive in small, close-knit teams where collaboration, creativity, and impact matter.
• You love partnering with product designers and teammates to deeply understand customer needs and deliver thoughtful, seamless user experiences. You care about the details but also keep the bigger picture in mind—thinking about how every decision shapes the overall product.
• You’re self-sufficient and take initiative, yet you also value the energy and ideas that come from working closely with others. You’re as comfortable rolling up your sleeves during a sprint as you are stepping back to think strategically about what comes next.

And while not required, you may have an interest in casual games and games culture, or enjoy thinking about how technology can create engaging, joyful experiences for players. Responsibilities:

• Collaborate with a small team to design, define, build, and deliver new features for Yahoo Games 

• Code – you will spend most of your time writing code using Typescript, React, and Node.js, focused on improving the web product experience and the backend services that support it. This includes new feature development, refactors, bugfixes, and ongoing support

• Share responsibilities like architecture/design reviews, code reviews, performance tuning, and build pipeline management

• Own and deliver – from the small must-do tasks to larger, complex projects with many moving parts

• Share your opinions and help shape our technical direction, best practices, product ideas, and team processes. We value and depend on your input!

Minimum Qualifications:

• 5+ years experience building and shipping across the web

• Proficiency in Typescript, React, and Node.js

• Excellent coding chops, code design skills, and practitioner of web development best practices: design pattern usage; writing modular, reusable, testable code; data structures; performance profiling and tuning

• Excellent analytical, problem solving, and debugging skills

• The quintessential teammate -- great communicator, adaptable, supportive, hard working, and enjoys a good laugh

Preferred Qualifications:

• Familiarity with Next.js, Tailwind

• Familiarity with AWS, DynamoDB, PostgreSQL

• An interest in casual games and strong opinions about them is a plus!

The compensation for this position ranges from $128,250.00 - $266,875.00/yr and will vary depending on factors such as your location, skills and experience.The compensation package may also include incentive compensation opportunities in the form of discretionary annual bonus or commissions.
