About This Role

As a Senior Software Engineer on the DX and Platform Infrastructure team you'll be responsible for designing and maintaining Dutchie's local development and platform tooling, and supporting applications running on the company’s EKS clusters. You'll work closely with other engineers inside the Platform team and across the company to ensure Dutchie's services and platforms are stable and reliable.

What You’ll Do…
  • Lead the vision for developer experience: Partner with engineering leadership and product teams to identify pain points and opportunities in our software development lifecycle. You’ll champion initiatives that make development easier, safer, and more enjoyable for everyone.
  • Architect and build developer tools: Design, implement, and maintain internal tooling that automates repetitive tasks and streamlines workflows, from local development to production.
  • Enhance our CI/CD pipelines: Evolve our continuous integration and deployment processes to be more robust, efficient, and scalable. This includes improving build times, enhancing deployment safety, and optimizing our testing workflows.
  • Manage Kubernetes infrastructure: Contribute to the design and operation of our Kubernetes environments (EKS). You’ll work on everything from cluster configuration to observability and cost optimization, ensuring a stable and reliable foundation for our applications.
  • AWS infrastructure: Manage AWS resources with infrastructure as code (IaC) using tools such as Pulumi and/or Terraform.
  • Optimize networking and edge services: Work with technologies like Cloudflare and various ingress solutions to improve application performance, security, and reliability at the edge.
What You Bring…
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, a related field, or equivalent experience.
  • At least 5 years of experience in designing, deploying, and maintaining cloud infrastructure and compute platforms.
  • You’re a technical leader: You have extensive experience as a senior-level engineer, capable of owning and driving complex, cross-functional projects from inception to completion.
  • You’re a developer advocate: You have a strong empathy for developers and a proven track record of building platforms and tooling that directly improve their productivity and happiness.
  • You have a strong Docker/Linux background: You are at home in a shell, and are comfortable writing and optimizing Dockerfiles.
  • Deep CI/CD expertise: You have extensive, hands-on experience with modern CI/CD systems (e.g., GitHub Actions, GitLab CI, CircleCI) and a deep understanding of best practices for testing, building, and deploying software.
  • Kubernetes fluency: You navigate Kubernetes and its ecosystem with ease. You can design, implement, and troubleshoot production-grade Kubernetes deployments in a local or cloud Kubernetes environment (AWS EKS preferred).
  • Proficiency in Infrastructure as Code (IaC): You have experience using IaC tools like Pulumi or Terraform to manage and provision cloud resources.
  • Strong programming skills: You’re comfortable writing clean, maintainable code in languages like Python (preferred), Go, or Ruby.
  • A “shift-left” mindset: You believe in moving quality, security, and reliability earlier in the development process and have experience implementing tools to support this philosophy.
  • Excellent communication: You can clearly articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical audiences. You are adept at building consensus and influencing without direct authority.
It's a bonus if you…
  • Have experience with Tilt or similar developer productivity tools
  • Have experience with the Argo ecosystem (ArgoCD, Argo Rollouts, etc.)
  • Experience implementing and managing a service mesh (Istio, Linderd, Envoy, etc)
You’ll Get…

We are targeting a starting salary of $149,000 - $200,000 based on the intended level for this role.

In addition to cash compensation, our total rewards package includes:

  • Full medical benefits including dental and vision plans to ensure you always have the best care.
  • Equity packages in the form of stock options to all employees.
  • Technology (hardware, software, reading materials, etc..) allowance
  • Flexible vacation and sick days

At Dutchie, we’re committed to providing an environment of mutual respect where equal employment opportunities are available to all applicants and teammates without regard to race, color, religion, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, pregnancy, age, national origin, disability status, genetic information, protected veteran status, or any other characteristic protected by law.
