Note: This is a full-time remote role. This person must be located in the United States.

Hypergiant, an Accelint company, empowers forward-thinking organizations with AI-driven solutions to stay ahead. Our geographic presence spans the U.S. and allied partners, with facilities in key Defense Technology hubs from Southern California to Washington, D.C. We provide large enterprises – across industries like the Defense Department, energy, healthcare and aviation – with bespoke technology solutions, cutting-edge advice, and deployment expertise needed to harness the value out of Artificial Intelligence and Machine Learning. At our core, we are military experts, researchers and technologists who want to accelerate intelligence to deliver strategic insights that turn future challenges into today’s opportunities.

We are looking for a Senior Software Engineer to join the Automotive Continuity team within the Platform Services organization for one of the biggest music streaming companies. The Automotive Continuity team is responsible for building high throughput, highly available microservices on our API platform that are critical to the user experience. These microservices and APIs power multiple clients, including automotive clients, streaming apps, and connected streaming devices that collectively reach millions of users.

Roles & Responsibilities:

  • Join the backend/API team with a primary focus on managing, maintaining, and debugging APIs and legacy microservices built in Scala, Java, and Spring Boot.
  • Maintain and support a “maintenance squad,” responsible for handling bugs, investigating production issues, and ensuring the reliability of existing systems rather than building net-new features.
  • Work within a monolithic and distributed systems environment with a strong emphasis on RESTful API performance, reliability, and scalability.
  • Take ownership of tickets and services independently — we’re looking for a go-getter who can hit the ground running and dig deep to get to the root of issues.
  • Demonstrate strong remote communication skills — proactively participate in video meetings, async discussions, and ticket threads with clarity and professionalism.
  • Participate in on-call rotation and regular code maintenance activities.

Required Qualifications:

  • BS in Engineering, Computer Science, Information Systems, or other technically related field. Equivalent experience and/or degrees in other technical fields will be evaluated and considered.
  • Minimum of five-plus years of professional experience.
  • Expertise in one or more modern programming languages, preferably Scala and Java.
  • Familiarity with functional programming paradigms.
  • Familiarity with frameworks such as Spring Boot.
  • Experience designing and implementing RESTful web APIs in an enterprise setting.
  • Deep understanding of the software development lifecycle, including the use of source control, CI/CD, and various testing approaches.
  • Experience supporting high-throughput, distributed systems in production environments.
  • Proficiency in building and maintaining scalable microservices in AWS, including services involving compute, storage, serverless, containers, and databases.
  • Experience with asynchronous programming models and containerized environments such as Docker.
  • A pragmatic mindset for weighing engineering trade-offs against business needs.
  • A strong sense of ownership and initiative — accountability doesn't end after code is deployed.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Must have legal right to work in the U.S.

Remote Work Video Meeting Requirement: Employees in remote roles are expected to actively participate in video meetings as part of their regular job responsibilities. This includes maintaining a professional presence on camera, ensuring a stable internet connection, and engaging in discussions as required. Video meetings are essential for collaboration, team alignment, and maintaining effective communication across distributed teams. Reasonable accommodations will be considered for employees with specific needs.
