About the role

One of RubyLabs' portfolio companies is focused on building a sustainable growth strategy with an emphasis on SEO. We're starting from scratch—there are no old systems or outdated content to deal with. With a clean slate, valuable user data, and a great opportunity to rank highly in an underserved space, we are in a strong position. We are looking for a Mid-to-Senior SEO Specialist to help develop and implement our SEO strategy and drive measurable results.

Key Responsibilities

  • Build a comprehensive SEO strategy from scratch for our product line.

  • Analyze search potential using paid traffic data across our top markets (US, UK, Canada, Australia, etc.).

  • Identify country-specific organic opportunities and long-tail keyword segments that can drive high-converting traffic.

  • Build a comprehensive SEO roadmap with clear short, medium, and long-term priorities.

  • Develop a global sitemap and site architecture strategy to support content scaling.

  • Perform keyword clustering, competitor benchmarking, and SERP intent analysis using tools like Ahrefs, SEMrush, and Google Search Console.

  • Prioritize “low-hanging fruit” opportunities to deliver fast and efficient organic traffic wins.

  • Define technical SEO requirements and work closely with product and engineering teams on implementation.

  • Optimize internal linking, metadata, schema, and page speed across product and content pages

  • Build a high-volume, high-quality content production engine from scratch.

  • Collaborate with writers to create scalable templates for long-tail pages (e.g., auto-generated phone lookup result pages).

  • Own topic ideation, content briefs, and quality control to ensure relevance and SEO performance.

  • Design and lead white-hat backlink campaigns, leveraging digital PR, partnerships, and outreach programs.

  • Monitor backlink profile health and competitor link strategies.

  • Own SEO KPIs and report progress across rankings, traffic, and conversions.

  • Continuously test and iterate to improve performance by region, keyword cluster, and page type.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of hands-on experience in SEO for web-based products.

  • Proven track record of building SEO programs from scratch in product-led companies.

  • Deep expertise with keyword research, competitive analysis, and market opportunity sizing.

  • Experience with high-volume SEO strategies, including templated landing pages and user-generated long-tail pages.

  • Advanced proficiency in Ahrefs, SEMrush, Google Search Console, Screaming Frog, and other SEO diagnostic tools.

  • Familiarity with web analytics tools (e.g., GA4, Looker Studio) and content CMS platforms.

  • Strong understanding of search intent, ranking factors, and algorithm updates.

  • Experience setting up content production pipelines and collaborating with copywriters, designers, and developers.

  • You’re analytical, curious, and relentless about data.

  • You think like a product owner—business results > vanity metrics.

  • You thrive in high-autonomy, fast-paced environments and know how to scale things that work.

Nice to have

  • Experience working in fast-paced startup environments.

  • Experience with AI-driven UX research tools and methodologies.
