Introduction:

The Zebra is looking for a Senior SEO Content Specialist to help further define and grow its already-successful SEO strategy. This person will play a key role in our team's continued growth by identifying new content opportunities through competitor and keyword research, shaping large-scale content initiatives, and ensuring high-quality execution across the site.

To be successful in this role, you'll need a strong understanding of how search engines work and how to apply that knowledge to real business problems. You'll leverage search insights to develop content strategies that improve both user experience and search performance—driving meaningful traffic and revenue growth. You'll be responsible for conducting competitor and keyword research (both independently and using inputs from our analytics team), creating detailed content briefs for large-scale initiatives, and working with contractors to roll out updates and improvements efficiently and at scale.

Location:

Our employees can choose to work remotely in the U.S. Join us in our Austin, Texas office, or opt for a hybrid setup. Whether you prefer the structure of an office, the convenience of remote work, or a mix of both, we support what works best for you!

Please note - At this time we are not able to hire in California, Massachusetts and New Jersey.

What You'll Do:
  • Oversee The Zebra’s data-driven SEO landing pages, using original data and creating content that is educational and encourages consumers to use our insurance comparison product.

  • Ideate, generate, edit, and publish SEO content at scale with the goal of driving organic traffic and revenue, supporting other marketing channels and link building initiatives

  • Relay their knowledge of the insurance industry, pricing data and SEO to team members and help foster their growth and skills in these areas by training junior team members and contractors.

  • Apply learnings from competitive intelligence analyses and content audits to The Zebra’s content and/or optimization processes.

  • Monitor and stay ahead of Google, SEO developments, competitors, and industry trends to identify opportunities for improvement.

  • Create detailed content briefs and blueprints for contractors and freelance writers, ensuring consistent quality and alignment with SEO and brand standards

  • Optimize content for user intent and search journey—balancing keyword targeting with readability, page structure, and conversion paths

  • Lead and support content projects within the team's scope, and assist with process improvements for streamlining workflows

  • Collaborate cross-functionally with product, design, and analytics teams to ensure content supports broader business goals

How We'll Measure Success:
  • Organic traffic growth and share of voice improvements across target content areas

  • Content output quality and velocity—delivering high-performing content on schedule

  • Revenue impact from SEO-driven content initiatives

What We're Looking For:
  • 3+ years of hands-on SEO experience with a focus on content strategy (agency or in-house)

  • Ability to analyze performance data and communicate clear, actionable recommendations

  • Basic understanding of basic HTML, JavaScript and CSS

  • Demonstrated experience optimizing content for both search performance and user experience

  • Understanding of E-E-A-T principles, especially as they apply to YMYL content

  • Proficiency with Google Search Console and SEO tools such as seoClarity and Screaming Frog

  • Strong writing and communication skills

Experience That Will Impress The Heck Out of Us:
  • Experience in insurance, fintech, or other regulated/YMYL industries

  • Experience managing contractors or freelance writers at scale

  • Familiarity with content optimization tools (Clearscope, MarketMuse, SurferSEO, or similar)

  • Experience with AI optimization tracking and strategy creation.

  • Comfortable wearing multiple hats and contributing across various facets of SEO

  • Experience working closely with UX, product, or design teams

Benefits & Perks:

Inclusive and healthy environments are crafted intentionally. All of our employees can join and participate in (or create your own!) Employee Resource Groups. Here are some other wonderful perks of working here:

  • Competitive Compensation & Stock Option Offering

  • Health, Dental, Vision & Disability Coverages

  • HSA offering + employer contribution

  • 401k plan + employer match

  • Unlimited PTO (paid time off)+ the flexibility to enjoy it

  • Paid Parental Leave Program

  • Wellness perk ($100/month)

  • Pet Adoption Reimbursement ($300/year)

  • Learning & Development Opportunities

  • Join a team that truly lives their values (outside of the office. Cliche, we know… but we really mean it)

The base salary range for this position is $95,000 - $105,000 per year. The final salary amount will be determined based on a variety of factors, including experience, skills, internal equity, and insights gained throughout the interview process
