Under minimal supervision, the Senior Sample Handler is responsible for tracking all customer samples according to the required
quality standard process. They must have an understanding of how the lab works and tasks involved within the lab. This role will be
handling products/samples which at times can be extremely confidential and must act with the utmost integrity at all times in order to
protect customer proprietary information and maintain the UL chain of sample custody. Ability to research and resolve sample related
issues in an efficient manner. This role is also fully onsite Monday-Friday.

Total Rewards: We understand compensation is an important factor as you consider the next step in your career . The estimated salary range for this position is $47,000 to $62,600 and is based on multiple factors, including job-related knowledge/skills, experience, geographical location, as well as other factors. This position is eligible for annual bonus compensation with a target payout of 5% of the base salary. This position also provides health benefits such as medical, dental and vision; wellness benefits such as mental and financial health; and retirement savings (401K) commensurate with the standard rewards offered in each individual location or country. We also provide full-time employees with paid time off including vacation (15 days), holiday including floating holidays (12 days) and sick time off (72 hours).

RESPONSIBILITIES
- Management of samples from receiving, internal distribution through lab testing to dispatch dispositioning using database software and basic Microsoft programs such as MS Word and Excel.
- Checking samples against sample requirement and raising any issues to the appropriate leader.
- Ensure samples are managed within and according to the UL quality and accreditation process requirements.
- Working with teams to ensure samples are ready and available for test start in the correct location.
- Communicating and guiding internal customers on sample return via phone and email.
- Support laboratory, engineering and shipping/receiving team.
- May also be responsible for maintenance of the warehouse.
- Integrates continuous improvement concepts and techniques into all aspects of the job.
- Assists and/or trains staff.
- Develops or assist in the creation of training.
- Develops or assists in the creation of reports and metrics.
- May supervise staff and/or provide input regarding evaluation of group quality and performance while providing constructive feedback and coaching.
- Responsible for meeting established levels of quality and quantity of work for the team.
- Maintain an organized, clean, safe, and productive work environment.
- Develop inventory reports and lead the periodic inventories of the sample storage areas.
- Lead the research and resolution for any missing, lost, or damaged samples.
- Address customer complaints and/or suggestions in a positive and proactive manner.
- Read and follow the Underwriters Laboratories Code of Conduct and follow all physical and digital security practices.
- Other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
- High school diploma or GED equivalency.
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, reaching, stooping/bending, walking and lifting/carrying objects up to 60 lbs.
- Ability to operate equipment associated with material handling which may include forklift operation.
- Ability to use a variety of hand and power tools in a safe manner
- Ability to use Microsoft Outlook and Excel.
- Demonstrates leadership qualities and a desire to provide coaching and/or mentoring to others.
- Physical demands include, but are not limited to, standing, reaching, stooping/bending, walking and lifting/carrying objects up to 60 lbs.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills.
