Senior Risk Engineer (Loss Control) - IAS National Commerical RMS, Mid-Atlantic
Job Profile Summary
The Senior Risk Engineer will act as a safety and risk mitigation liaison between our clients, insurance partners, and our firm. In addition, the Senior Risk Engineer will help set the organization’s strategic and tactical goals with regard to environmental health and safety, claims intake/handling, and other insurance and risk management initiatives. The ideal candidate will be considered an expert in behavior-based safety, OSHA, claims handling, reporting, and investigation and be affluent in various Risk Mitigation strategies and tactics.
Principal Responsibilities:
Manages the deployment of risk mitigation and loss control resources with the goal of creating and maintaining a culture of safety in coordination with Leadership
Assist in the investigation of client claims as deemed necessary. Work with our insurance partners in establishing claims protocols that ensure proper reporting, notification, and settlement authorities.
Perform on-site consultative visits with clients in various industries, business partners, and insurance company representatives to discuss risk mitigation and claims management practices appropriate to the client’s culture and capabilities.
Recommend and facilitate vendor services as necessary that align with risk improvement recommendations.
Provide education relative to environmental health and safety, OSHA compliance, fire, natural disaster planning, claim reporting/investigation, and other issues to clients and business partners.
Schedule and/or take part in claims reviews with clients and insurance partners ensuring proper claims handling, reserve standards, and settlement protocols.
Regularly review individual claims within client portfolios and keep reserves and records up to date and within industry best practices.
Develop an understanding of insurance marketing strategies and contribute to business development and renewal opportunities by attending client meetings to explain the firm’s value proposition, services, and stewardship commitments.
Keep abreast of industry trends and best practices with regard to environmental health and safety, claims management, claims outcomes, and legal and regulatory changes.
Education, Experience, Skills, and Abilities Requirements:
A minimum of 5 to 7 years of experience and/or training in environmental safety and health or related field. Bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university; a degree in Occupational Safety and Health, Risk Management, or related field preferred.
Strong knowledge and thorough understanding of OSHA regulations, Behavior Based Safety, and claims handling best practices are strongly desired.
ARM/ASP/CSP/LPC/CSST/OHST and other like certifications/professional designations are desired.
Self-starting and resourceful with an ability to work with minimal supervision in a dynamic and fast-paced environment.
Ability to effectively communicate and present risk mitigation strategies to all organizational levels including C-Suite.
Presentation and excellent communication skills
Intermediate to advanced skills in MS Office suite, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook. The ability to quickly learn and use job-specific programs such as Sagitta, Carrier Websites, and Zywave. The ability to analyze trends, determine courses of action, and present solutions.
Up to 20% overnight travel as necessary depending on territory and client needs.
Must reside in our Mid-Atlantic Region (VA, NJ, PA, MD, DC)
