We are looking for a Senior Research Specialist to join our North American Natural Gas team.

WHY IS THIS JOB IMPORTANT

The role of the team is to deliver data-driven analysis and reports as our customers worldwide rely on our expertise to make their trading and investment decisions. The team develops proprietary fundamental and price forecasting models and produces the forward looking view of supply, demand, and prices. The team also offers in-depth view and explanation of our forecasted data in the thought leadership reports. Our customers span over the Natural Gas and LNG producers, importers, distribution companies, trading houses, and financial and governmental institutions.

Preferred candidates must demonstrate strong analytical and interpersonal skills and have experience in the NA gas sector.

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES

Drive the analytical offering: identify, support, and implement opportunities for the development of the US natural gas fundamental and pricing analysis and forecasting, including:

Contribute to and be the market lead analyst for the regular market analysis commentary, providing customers with the gas fundamentals they need to know through regular reports and presentations.

  • Identify new content needs and build new data and analysis offering,
  • Provide data insight through visual analytic dashboards
  • Shape and implement strategies to enhance market data and reports.
  • Analyse vessel movements and trends, explain them to wide range of customers globally
  • Organise US gas team collaboration and align content, model and report methodology with the global teams,
  • Connect with customers on data or market explanation queries
  • Contribute to business growth through partnering with LSEG Sales organisation
  • Improve content and design of our Workspace-based analytical tools, charts, and tables.
  • Collaborate across wider commodities Research team members for process and policy alignment, methods of work and standard methodologies

Required Skills:

  • Proven experience (3+ years) in the energy sector, with a focus on the North American gas market analysis required
  • Deep understanding of supply and demand fundamental market drivers and price formation principles
  • Must have prior experience in Python or Matlab modeling.
  • Proficiency in use of analytical software (Excel) and experience with programming (ex. Python, VBA or equivalent) and Power BI is an additional strength.
  • Excellent writing skills with consistent track record of producing detailed and insightful market reports
  • Good project management skills with the ability to drive projects in a global and multicultural environment
  • Superlative communication and presentation skills
  • Ability to work independently and in a collaborative environment

Qualification:

  • Higher education in economics, business, mathematics or /energy related degree or related experience
  • US Gas market experience
