Department OverviewThe TETRA Devices Software Engineering organization, a key component of the TETRA Devices business segment at Motorola Solutions, consists of a diverse group of product architects, solutions architects, software engineers and test engineers. We are situated across various global locations, working collaboratively to develop next-generation solutions that serve our mission critical customers. It is these mission critical customers that trust and rely on TETRA Devices to be their best in the moments that matter.
The TETRA Devices Software Team follows modern software development practices such as continuous integration/continuous deployment, DevOps, component-level and system-level automated testing. We use Agile methodologies to organize our work and we are responsible for end-to-end software development life-cycle. As a TETRA Device Software Team member, you will be responsible for delivering uncompromising quality solutions for a customer base that demands the highest level of assurance that their needs will be served with the products and solutions you develop.
Job Description
We're looking for a self-driven Senior QA Manager to take on a vital role in our software development quality assurance process.
Responsibilities
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and support to the QA team members.
- Oversee and manage daily activities of the QA team to ensure alignment with project goals.
- Assist in onboarding new QA team members and conducting training sessions.
- Act as a liaison between the QA team and cross-functional Scrum teams.
- Ensure QA tasks are properly prioritized, assigned, and completed within sprint timelines.
- Participate in Scrum ceremonies such as sprint planning, stand-ups, and retrospectives to represent QA activities.
- Develop, review, and maintain test plans, test cases, and test scripts.
- Perform hands-on manual or automated testing (functional, regression, integration, and UAT).
- Identify testing gaps and ensure complete coverage of requirements.
- Monitor and manage defect lifecycle, ensuring accurate documentation and timely resolution.
- Generate and share testing progress, quality metrics, and defect reports with stakeholders.
- Implement and enforce quality assurance processes and best practices to ensure high product quality.
- Identify areas for improvement in testing processes and propose actionable solutions.
Basic Requirements
- 5+ years team leadership experience in a QA environment
- Strong hands-on testing experience (manual or automated).
- Proven experience working in Agile/Scrum environments, coordinating QA efforts with Scrum teams.
- Proficiency with testing tools like JIRA, TestRail, Selenium, or similar platforms.
- Familiarity with automation frameworks and scripting languages desirable (e.g., Python, Java, or JavaScript).
- Ability to manage, motivate, and mentor QA team members.
- Strong organizational and multitasking skills to handle multiple projects and teams simultaneously.
- Proven ability to resolve conflicts and facilitate collaboration across teams.
- Strong verbal and written communication skills for reporting progress, defects, and risks.
- Comfortable presenting quality metrics and updates to stakeholders and management.
- Solid understanding of QA methodologies, tools, and processes.
- Experience improving QA workflows and advocating for quality improvements in Agile environments.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience).
