Job Summary
The Senior QA Engineer will be responsible for planning, designing, and executing automated testing strategies within the ServiceNow platform, with a strong focus on upgrade and regression testing. The primary mission of this role is to ensure a seamless platform upgrade by owning the quality and stability of the ServiceNow environment through a robust, automated regression suite. This is a highly technical role requiring deep knowledge of ServiceNow’s unique architecture and server-side scripting model. The specialist will design and maintain a robust automated regression suite, collaborate closely with developers and architects, and act as the technical owner of upgrade automation, driving continuous improvement in test automation practices across the ServiceNow ecosystem.
ResponsibilitiesDesign and execute automated testing strategies focused on governing upgrade regression coverage across the ServiceNow platform.
Develop, configure, and maintain advanced ServiceNow ATF scripts for core modules (ITSM, ITOM) and custom applications, including server-side logic using the ServiceNow Rhino JavaScript engine.
Build and maintain a comprehensive Upgrade Regression Suite that validates platform architecture, integrations, and customizations.
Perform regression testing for new releases and platform upgrades to prevent functional defects and ensure production readiness.
Establish performance baselines using ATF and identify areas for remediation.
Identify, log, and track defects discovered through automation, partnering with development teams to drive rapid resolution.
Continuously update and refine automated test libraries to align with new platform enhancements and customizations.
Translate business processes into executable test cases in collaboration with architects and developers.
Package test data, execution evidence, and automation results, and report quality metrics and risks to QA Leads and technical stakeholders.
Conduct knowledge transfer sessions and promote ATF best practices across engineering teams.
Collaborate with QA, developers, and architects throughout the test lifecycle, bridging the gap between “it builds” and “it works.”
5+ years of hands-on experience as a ServiceNow ATF Engineer or Specialist.
Strong knowledge of the ServiceNow platform and Automated Test Framework (ATF).
Solid experience with ServiceNow ITSM modules.
Proven experience with upgrade and regression testing.
Advanced server-side JavaScript experience specific to the ServiceNow Rhino engine.
Deep understanding of automated testing methodologies, UI testing, and BDD.
Experience working with developers and solution architects.
Proven track record of technically managing automated testing for major ServiceNow platform upgrades.
Working knowledge of REST and SOAP APIs for integration testing.
Familiarity with Agile methodologies and defect management tools.
CIS-ATF (ServiceNow Certified Implementation Specialist – Automated Test Framework) certification is highly preferred.
