DroneSense is looking for a Senior QA Engineer to help us ensure our software delivers the highest level of reliability and quality for first responders. This role combines mobile application testing with hands-on drone/hardware testing, supporting mission-critical use cases in real-world environments.
What would I be doing?
- Collaborate with the QA team to plan, test and certify our software for release in an agile environment
- Create test cases and manually execute test plans across multiple Android and iOS applications
- Manually fly drones and test hardware to verify requirements are being met
- Write detailed defect tickets with relevant information to reproduce
- Validate implementation matches expected design specifications
- Be an advocate for quality throughout the engineering team

- You enjoy exploring new functionality to uncover bugs, edge cases, and assess risk. Overall you are a troubleshooter - you don’t just say it doesn’t work - you find out why it doesn’t work. The ideal candidate also thrives in a fast-paced, multi-app environment with staggered and overlapping release cycles, bringing strong organizational skills and a methodical testing mindset. While automation experience is welcome, this position emphasizes manual and functional testing.
- 5+ years in QA engineering, with minimum of 3 years experience focused on mobile application testing (Android/iOS)
- Experience dealing with varying levels of firmware, software and networking in testing
- Strong ability to test multiple apps with staggered release cycles
- Experience or eagerness to get outside and fly drones
- Experience with bug tracking and test management tools (TestRail, Zephyr, etc.)
- Willingness to collaborate with design, product management, and other teams
- This is a Work from Home/Remote role that must be located in Central Texas for logistical reasons.
Bonus Skills
- Experience testing video streaming and network reliability, including bandwidth constraints, latency, and packet loss scenarios.
- Test automation experience (Appium, Nightwatch.js)
