Who are we looking for?

GHD is seeking a Senior Proposal Manager to join our Americas Priority Pursuits team. This individual will play a critical role in supporting strategic growth across the Americas, partnering closely with the Capture Management Team and national leadership to drive winning proposal strategies and advance our bold growth targets.
The selected candidate may be based in most GHD office locations throughout the U.S. This is a Hybrid work position with expectations of 3 days in the office.

Responsibilities

  • Manage large proposal efforts cross functionally across the Americas.
  • Lead proposal strategy discussions, GNGs, and kick-off meetings for large pursuits and ensuring strategic win themes are effectively incorporated throughout the proposal.
  • Drives development and manages proposal team (technical leader, proposal coordinator, technical writes, and graphics, etc.).
  • Manage capture and proposal teams through the development and production process from start to finish.
  • Collaborates with team in the development of various proposal sections including Management, Personnel, Executive Summaries, and/or other Volumes as assigned.
  • Proficient in Salesforce/PowerBI.
  • Facilitates color reviews, as well as check in reviews.
  • Facilitate production and delivery of finished product, while complying with all RFP requirements.
  • Lead interview strategy discussions.
  • Leads and engages in project specific and client capture planning with NRMLs. 
  • Engages in the interview process to meet all client needs and align proposal themes and messaging with the knowledge collected throughout the positioning phase.
  • Attends interview preparation and practice sessions; supports the team with presentation skills and delivery.
  • Attends client pre-proposal and debrief meetings; shares lessons learned and best practices across teams
  • Document Preparation: Edit document in line with organizational style guidelines and prepare information for publication.
  • Data Collection and Analysis: Conduct research using primary data sources, and select information needed for the analysis of key themes and trends.
  • Needs Assessment: Uncover emerging issues or needs, identifying potential causes, barriers, and key stakeholders, as well as related issues.
  • Solutions Analysis: Analyze specific problems and issues to find the best solutions. Solutions could be technical or professional in nature.
  • Multiagency Work: Partner and build collaborative working relationships with other professional teams and over organizational boundaries to ensure service users experience cohesive and seamless support to meet their needs.
  • Work Scheduling and Allocation: Develop short- or medium-term work schedules in order to achieve planned commitments. Approve overtime or use additional resources as needed.
  • Personal Capability Building: Develop own capabilities by participating in assessment and development planning activities as well as formal and informal training and coaching; gain or maintain external professional accreditation, where relevant, to improve performance and fulfill personal potential. Maintain an in-depth understanding of technology, external regulation, and industry best practices through ongoing education, attending conferences, and reading specialist media.
  • Request for Bid Solicitation/Proposal/Tender Response: Gather information and resources, draft and complete proposals, and fulfill all process requirements (in terms of deadlines, documentation, etc.) in response to bid solicitations, request for proposal, and request for tender to create the best chance of being awarded the contract.
  • Bid Solicitation/Request for Proposal/Tender Analysis: Conduct complex feasibility studies from technological, financial, and organizational perspectives on bid solicitation, including request for proposal (RFP) and request for tender (RFT) project requirements, and write specifications for tenders.
  • Operational Compliance: Maintain and renew a deep knowledge and understanding of the organization's policies and procedures and of relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, and ensure own work adheres to required standards. Or identify, within the team, patterns of noncompliance with the organization's policies and procedures and with relevant regulatory codes and codes of conduct, taking appropriate action to report and resolve these and escalating issues as appropriate.

Clients:

  • Internal proposal specialists/managers, projects managers, subject matter experts, and technical and marketing staff.
  • Interact with project managers, marketing and communications groups, and drafting department

People:

  • Manage proposal team to stay on schedule.
  • Mentor and engage with Proposal Coordinators, Proposal Specialist, and Sr. Proposal Specialists during proposal development.
  • Manage and assign tasks to Proposal Resource Groups (e.g. Capture Managers, Technical Writers, Graphic Artist, and Proposal Coordinator) during proposal development.
  • Manage Graphic Design & Technical Writer support during and interview development

Qualifications: 

  • Bachelor or Master’s degree. 
  • Minimum ten years of experience leading the proposal process from prepositioning phases through interview and driving teams to develop complaint and coemptive bids for an engineering, construction or professional services organization.
