Senior Product Software Engineer

Hybrid role: 8 days per month onsite at an approved Wolters Kluwer location.

Elevate your software engineering career as a Senior Product Software Engineer. In this role, you will design, develop, and optimize complex software solutions that enhance product performance and user experience. Leveraging your technical expertise, you will drive continuous improvements across our product suite, deliver custom solutions for clients and internal teams, and manage conversions from third-party products to our Pfx PM and Axcess Practice platforms.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design, development, and maintenance of complex software applications.

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to define specifications and ensure high-quality solutions.

  • Communicate progress, challenges, and updates to stakeholders.

  • Consult with internal teams and customers to understand requirements and deliver tailored solutions.

  • Prepare detailed technical requirements and specifications.

  • Identify bottlenecks and optimize system performance.

  • Design innovative, user-friendly applications that align with industry standards.

  • Develop and execute comprehensive testing routines to ensure reliability and accuracy.

  • Apply mathematical and statistical approaches to solve technical challenges.

  • Troubleshoot and resolve complex IT issues during development.

  • Prepare, preprocess, and validate data for software applications.

  • Provide technical support and guidance to end-users.

Required Skills

  • Software Engineering & Development: Proficient in design, coding, testing, and maintenance of software systems.

  • Programming: Strong experience in languages such as C#, VB.NET, Python, Java, or C++.

  • Problem Solving & Analysis: Ability to dissect complex problems and deliver effective solutions.

  • Testing & Quality Assurance: Skilled in TDD, CI, and automated testing frameworks.

  • Agile Development: Experience with adaptive, collaborative project methodologies.

  • Source Control: Proficient with code repositories (branching, merging, version control).

  • Databases: Strong SQL Server experience, including stored procedures and relational database design.

  • APIs: Expertise in designing, developing, and maintaining APIs.

  • Design & Frameworks: Strong understanding of software architecture, patterns, and frameworks.

  • Documentation: Ability to create and maintain clear, organized technical documentation.

  • Communication & Consulting: Strong verbal and written communication skills with the ability to collaborate across internal teams and consult directly with customers to translate business needs into technical solutions.

Experience

  • Bachelor’s degree or higher in a technically oriented field such as Computer Science or Computer Information Systems; or equivalent related work experience.

  • 4+ years developing Windows applications using .NET Framework, C#, WPF, and Console Applications.

  • 5+ years developing Windows applications with Windows Forms, VB6, and VB.NET.

  • 4+ years of SQL Server experience (SQL, stored procedures).

  • 4+ years developing customer-facing applications.

  • Proficient in object-oriented design and software design patterns.

  • Experience mentoring junior developers and promoting best practices.

  • Strong presentation skills and ability to communicate technical solutions effectively to both technical and non-technical audiences.

  • Experience with Power BI and Power Automate a plus

Applicants may be required to appear onsite at a Wolters Kluwer office as part of the recruitment process.

Compensation:

Target salary range CA, CT, CO, DC, HI, IL, MD, MN, NY, RI, WA: $114,750 - $160,450
