🥃 Scotch’s mission is to modernize one of the oldest industries on earth: the $1.6T beverage alcohol market. We’re starting by building the next-generation operating system for BevAlc retailers (POS, payments, backoffice, ecommerce). If you love Rails, solving real-world problems, and want to work with a team that is more talent dense than osmium, we’d love to talk.
Our exec team is comprised of former leaders from Skupos (a c-store software company that was acquired for 9-figures in 2023), Toast (the leading cloud-based point of sale platform for restaurants), and Drizly (the pioneers of alcohol delivery, acquired by Uber for $1.1Billion), as well as engineers from other top technology companies. We’ve raised $10MM to build and scale Scotch from tier-one VC’s like First Round, Lerer Hippeau, and Toba Capital, as well as strategic angels like the founder of Drizly, founding executives of Toast, and others.
Position Overview:
We are seeking a highly experienced Product Manager specializing in point of sale systems to join our very early stage product and engineering team. In this role, you will own the end-to-end product lifecycle — from discovery to delivery — for core liquor store retail and payments experiences. You’ll work closely with design and engineering to define and build mission-critical features that power our cloud-based POS platform, helping our customers run more efficient, modern businesses.
You’re excited about this opportunity because you will:
- Drive the product vision and roadmap for our retail and payments platform
- Collaborate with engineering, design, and go-to-market teams to bring high-impact features to life
- Define clear product requirements and success metrics based on customer needs and business goals
- Prioritize a fast-moving backlog while balancing short-term wins with long-term strategy
- Lead discovery and user research initiatives to inform product direction
- Continuously analyze product performance and identify areas for improvement
- Help shape a product culture that values outcomes, clarity, and speed
You will be successful here by:
- Having 4+ years of experience as a Product Manager in software or SaaS
- Demonstrating a strong understanding of agile product development
- Being skilled at writing clear, concise product specs and user stories
- Showing fluency in interpreting product analytics, customer feedback, and market trends
- Thriving in cross-functional settings and keeping stakeholders aligned
- Balancing strategic thinking with an execution mindset
- Communicating effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences
- Being proactive, accountable, and comfortable with ambiguity in a startup environment
- You love working in early-stage startups, fast-paced environments, and wearing lots of hats
- You have experience with both in store retail as well as e-commerce, payments, or point-of-sale systems
- You’re familiar with retail workflows and how software can streamline them
- You’ve worked on developer-facing products or APIs
- You have a strong intuition for great user experience
- You know how to manage tradeoffs between speed, scope, and quality
- You’re passionate about building products that simplify complex systems
- You are knowledgable about retail/wholesale, the alcohol industry, and/or the 3-tier system
