About the Team

College Board is taking a mission-first approach to generative AI, envisioning a future where humans drive responsible generative AI transformation within education. As the technology evolves, we’re accelerating experimentation and building staff capacity with purpose and care. Our aim is simple: deliver outsized value through ethical, real-world applications that serve students, educators, and members.

The GenAI Studio is College Board’s internal innovation engine behind this work. Launched in 2024, the Studio exists to accelerate experimentation and unlock the transformative potential of GenAI in service of our mission.

Spanning our Strategy and Technology divisions, we are a cross-functional, entrepreneurial team unified by a shared belief that AI, when guided by ethics and rigor, can enhance learning outcomes and operational excellence. From workforce enablement to product R&D, the Studio operates at the forefront of the GenAI landscape: enabling a culture of experimentation, building cutting-edge tools, and embedding human-centered AI innovation and literacy throughout our ecosystem. Join us in turning bold ideas into real impact.

About the Opportunity

As the Senior Product Manager, GenAI Studio, you will lead the vision, strategy, and roadmap for a portfolio of products that use AI technologies to solve problems for students and educators. You are passionate about applying new ideas and technologies to creatively solve challenging, real-world problems. You are an early-adopter who is enthusiastic about finding high-value applications for emerging tools and new technology. You are versatile, adaptable, and comfortable with uncertainty and ambiguity. You are resourceful and able to forge ahead even when faced with incomplete information.

This is a highly visible role reporting to the head of College Board’s GenAI Studio and with substantial opportunities to work with program (AP, SAT, BigFuture) and executive (e.g. President, CTO) leadership. You have the potential to improve learning and instruction using AI for millions of students and thousands of educators.

In this role, you will:

New Product Strategy and Roadmap Development (45%)

  • Obsess over student and educator needs and pain points in service of imagining products that use GenAI technologies, with a focus on delivering value via College Board programs and services

  • Develop and prioritize product initiatives by creating a product roadmap for internal audiences, adapting it to incorporate learnings as we fail or accelerate efforts as we succeed

  • Within priority product areas, identify the biggest problems to solve in service of success at scale and prioritize solving them

  • Proactively define and communicate Objectives and Key Results (OKRs) for the products that drive action focused on outcomes

Feature Delivery and Implementation (40%)

  • Deliver the highest priority products on the roadmap that are aligned to product strategy

  • Drive product features through their entire creative cycle: ideation, specification, development, release, analysis, and iteration

  • Evaluate trade-offs between competing choices and make informed recommendations based on deep orientation towards customer needs and data.

  • Work cross-functionally with a small, dedicated team (Data Scientist, Product Design/User Research Lead, Engineers) and with program and subject matter experts (SME) to build prototypes and capabilities

  • Design and manage approaches to get rapid feedback from educators, students, and/or content SME to rapidly iterate

  • Workshop new ideas with the immediate team and program stakeholders

  • Give feedback to Data Scientist and Product Design/User Research Lead

  • Communicate product updates to internal stakeholders, including in key moments to executive audiences

  • As needed, work with Head of Studio to add capacity (e.g. more engineers) as products gain momentum

Learning, ideating, and sharing (15%)

  • Understand evolving needs of educators and students as Generative AI begins to shift the U.S. education landscape

  • Understand College Board program (AP, SAT Suite, BigFuture) needs and strategies in service of connecting GenAI product strategy

  • Study key GenAI initiatives of other educational organizations

  • Share knowledge of new developments with the team via chats, recurring meetings, and presentations when appropriate

About You

To qualify for this role, you must have:

  • 8+ years relevant experience including a track record of outstanding results managing a product from inception through design to implementation and launch

  • Product management experience at a startup or in a new problem/opportunity area at an established organization

  • Hands-on experience working with Generative AI technologies, either in production environments or through impactful, self-directed experimentation or side projects

  • A deep curiosity (some might call you obsessive) for learning about new areas (i.e. Education sector or GenAI)

  • A bias toward action, with the flexibility to operate as both strategist and executor, including writing tickets or stepping into a PO function as needed

  • Excellent analytical skills with strength in using quantitative and qualitative evidence to define and solve problems

  • A demonstrated ability to navigate and influence complex stakeholder environments, especially within large mission-driven organizations

  • Strong understanding of structural educational inequities in America, whether through prior experience or a clear, authentic connection to College Board’s mission

  • Strong ability to work on teams and collaborate across lines of difference

  • The ability to travel 4-5 times a year to College Board offices or on behalf of College Board business

All roles at College Board require:

  • A passion for expanding educational and career opportunities and mission-driven work

  • Authorization to work in the United States for any employer

  • Curiosity and enthusiasm for emerging technologies: with a willingness to experiment with and adopt new AI-driven solutions and a comfort learning and applying new digital tools independently and proactively.

  • Clear and concise communication skills: written and verbal

  • A learner's mindset and a commitment to growth: welcoming diverse perspectives, giving and receiving timely, respectful feedback, and continuously improving through iterative learning and user input.

  • A drive for impact and excellence: solving complex problems, making data-informed decisions, prioritizing what matters most, and continuously improving through learning, user input, and external benchmarking.

  • A collaborative and empathetic approach: working across differences, fostering trust, and contributing to a culture of shared success.

About Our Process

  • Application review will begin immediately and will continue until the position is filled. This role is expected to accept applications for a minimum of 5 business days.

  • While the hiring process may vary, it generally includes: resume and application submission, recruiter phone/video screen, hiring manager interview, performance exercise such as live coding, a panel interview, a conversation with leadership and reference checks.
