ABOUT THE ROLE

Be a part of changing the future of health!  The Senior Manager of Bioactive Ingredient Product Management will develop, lead, and deliver the business initiatives and innovation strategy for our bioactive products with the goal of driving new product development, strategy, customer related opportunities, and operational improvement projects.   


Key responsibilities include managing and directing the development of the Bioactives business, with an aim to manage the profitability of the existing products, and identify new markets and execute on opportunities to grow future business.  


Reporting to the Chief Commercial Officer, the Senior Manager of Bioactive Product Management, is a key link between supporting existing business and developing future growth.  This role is critical to Brightseed’s growth and will work in cross functional teams to include R&D, operations, finance, and the commercial team to deliver on key elements of the strategy.  

THE IMPACT YOU WILL MAKE

  • Define and maintain target product profile for all developing Bioactives, designing the most commercially desirable, sellable and profitable products.  Determine target claims and positioning, functional profile, customer segmentation and pricing.
  • Project manage Bioactive Ingredient work streams from inception to launch through Phase Gates, working with a highly cross-functional team and making key decisions along the way.
  • Determine optimal market access strategy (global rollout) for each product to deliver speed to market, maximize revenue and profit.
  • Identify and define new products and line extensions that will grow the Bioactives business by leveraging deep market knowledge of the Bioactives business from a customer, consumer and competitive standpoint.
  • Determine competitive landscape and track key competitive activity in partnership with insights.
  • Develop robust projections and forecasts to guide and measure business performance including ingredient demand and product as well as sales revenue.
  • Partner with sales and engage directly with customers as the product expert to support customer success, product adoption and demand for Brightseed Bioactives innovation.
  • Shape, inform, and drive development of customer prototypes and demonstration products that drive demand, demonstrate capability and accelerate product adoption.

THE EXPERIENCE YOU WILL NEED

  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Marketing, Food/Nutrition Sciences, or other related field; MBA is preferred.
  • 5 - 7 years of specific product management experience.
  • B2B Ingredients experience is essential. Health product or health ingredient experience would also be a big plus. 
  • Food, beverage and supplement sector expertise, including strong understanding of ingredients and innovation processes and applications.
  • Proven track record of working with other departments to facilitate delivery of innovation, customer collaboration and operational improvement projects.
  • Expertise in analyzing, scoping and forecasting opportunities and options to define and key strategies to grow and optimize business.
  • Effective collaboration with sales to generate and update revenue forecasts.
  • Financial acumen to develop and maintain demand and production forecasts for all in-market and commercializing product.
  • Significant experience in customer engagement and customer project facilitation.
  • Strong entrepreneurial ability and willingness to build a Consumer & Market Insights structure in a rapidly evolving company.
  • Ability to partner effectively across functions and act as a thought partner to key  stakeholders across a rapidly growing organization, as well as develop and manage a team with urgency to deliver against multi priorities and tight timelines.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at time.

COMPENSATION

  • The salary range for this position is $150,000 - $170,000. 
  • Compensation for this position is commensurate with relevant qualifications and work experience, academic credentials, job related skills, employment location and other factors.
