Job Overview

Role Overview
We're looking for a Senior Product Designer to help shape the next generation of Relativity aiR, the AI platform for legal data intelligence. This role is for a strategic designer who is also a builder, comfortable taking an idea from sketch to working, production-quality code with AI. You will drive end-to-end design and hands-on implementation across core case strategy workflows, partnering closely with Product, Engineering, and UX Research to build products that help legal teams leverage AI capabilities to get to insights faster, and develop a defensible case strategy through data-driven storytelling.

Job Description and Requirements

What You'll Do

Lead design across Discovery domain

Own design from discovery through delivery across core case strategy workflows, such as early case insights, conflict detection, and deposition/trial preparation. Champion the end-to-end experience for legal teams in law firms, corporate, and government. Co-own product direction with product managers, identifying opportunities and helping shape priorities for what gets built next.

Partner on AI feature design
Work closely with applied scientists and product managers to design experiences around AI capabilities including fact auditing, transcript analysis, memo drafting, document review, PI redaction, and knowledge management. Help define how AI surfaces recommendations in ways that are transparent, trustworthy, and actionable for legal teams.

Build and ship production-ready code with AI
Go beyond static mockup prototypes, and implement real interfaces in code, using AI-assisted development to move quickly from concept to working software. Partner with engineering to take work from prototype to production: tested, accessible, reviewed, and shipped to customers.

Create and communicate high-quality design artifacts
Produce mockups, interactive prototypes, and detailed design specifications that communicate clearly to engineering, product, and executive stakeholders. Facilitate iterative review cycles and help the team make aligned decisions quickly.

Evolve and modernize our design system
Work within Relativity's design system (RUI) and help push it forward. Keep discovery surfaces consistent, accessible, and scalable, while challenging existing patterns where they fall short and delivering innovative UI solutions that move our interface into the modern age. We want someone who treats the system as a living foundation to build on and advance, not a boundary to stay inside.

Partner deeply with internal and external SMEs
Build durable working relationships with subject matter experts inside Relativity and our partners. Use their expertise to pressure-test assumptions about discovery workflows and bring that knowledge back into the design and the product roadmap.

Get in the room with customers
Occasional travel on-site for discovery sessions, demos, conferences, and customer events. Present work confidently to stakeholders and executives, gather feedback in the moment, and turn what you learn into the next iteration.

What We're Looking For

  • 6-8+ years of experience as a product or UX designer, with a portfolio demonstrating complex workflow design for enterprise users
  • Strong human-centered design practice, including research synthesis, journey mapping, and iterative prototyping
  • A strong bias toward action. You get things done, ship in increments, and would rather put something real in front of users than wait for perfect information
  • Ability to think ahead of the roadmap and anticipate what our customers will need next, spotting where a design or implementation will need to flex for a specific customer or jurisdiction, and raising it before it becomes rework
  • Strong collaboration skills across product, engineering, applied science, and research
  • Demonstrated foundational visual design skills including layout, spacing, typography, and color theory
  • Demonstrated ability to build and ship production-ready front-end code including working within an existing codebase
  • Track record of using AI-assisted development to accelerate delivery
  • Ability to clearly communicate design decisions and influence direction across levels of seniority
  • Proficiency with modern design and development tooling, including AI-assisted workflows and AI-native development environments (Claude, Claude Code, Cursor) with version control (Git)
  • Knowledge of accessibility standards (WCAG, Section 508)

Nice to Have

  • Expertise in designing and delivering micro-interactions or motion design
  • Experience designing AI-assisted features, particularly around artifact creation, knowledge building, or chat-based experiences
  • Experience contributing directly to a production codebase alongside engineers — pull requests, code review, and CI/CD

Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices.

This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives.

The expected salary range for this role is between following values:

$138,000 and $208,000

The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.

Required Skills:

Design Systems, Design Thinking, Information Design, Interaction Design, Prototyping, User Experience (UX), User Interface (UI) Design, User Interfaces (UI), Visual Design, Wireframing
