Summary 

Are you a seasoned product designer who can balance craft, strategy, and systems thinking to deliver meaningful user experiences?

As a Senior Product Designer at Topstep, you’ll own the design of key product areas end-to-end, solving complex problems, translating insights into elegant solutions, and helping raise the bar for design quality across the team.  As a key contributor in the Advanced Trader Experience domain, you’ll create the next generation of analytical and decision-making tools for traders and the globe, and offers the opportunity to help drive the product development lifecycle, balancing creativity with critical thinking and design craft with product impact.

You’ll collaborate with product, engineering, business stakeholders to align around shared goals, uncover opportunities, and create experiences that are as intuitive as they are effective. Your work will shape how we build, how we design, and how users experience Topstep.

Key Responsibilities 

  • Drive the design of end-to-end workflows, balancing usability, visual clarity, and technical feasibility for the Trader Experience team.
  • Collaborate with the Lead Product Designer to define and establish design initiatives that accelerate the user-centric development of Topstep’s Trading Platform. 
  • Translate research and insights into design strategies, prototypes, and production-ready solutions
  • Drive collaboration with PMs and engineers to scope solutions, align priorities, and ensure quality through delivery
  • Contribute to evolving the design system by creating reusable components and patterns
  • Facilitate design reviews, give constructive feedback, and help uplift the craft of other designers
  • Define and track success measures, validating design performance through data and feedback loops
  • Present work clearly to cross-functional stakeholders, connecting design rationale to user and business impact

Required Qualifications and Key Competencies

  • 5-8 years of experience in Product Design. 
  • Preferred: Demonstrable experience in the design of Trading platforms.
  • Preferred: Demonstrable experience in simplifying complex real-time financial data through interactive visualizations. 
  • Preferred: Demonstrable experience in complex multi-component userflow interaction design. 
  • Strong skills in turning research insights into strategic, testable design solutions
  • Effective cross-functional collaborator with PM and engineering partners
  • Experience contributing to or scaling a design system
  • Skilled in critique, feedback, and raising design quality across a team
  • Data-informed decision-maker who incorporates metrics and experimentation into design
  • Clear communicator who connects design rationale to product and business value

New Hire Base Salary Range

  • $160,000-$190,000
  • Bonus: This position is eligible for a performance-based bonus as provided by the plan terms and governing documents.
  • The compensation offered will take into account internal compensation structure and may vary depending on the candidate's geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience among other factors.
