About the role

We're on the lookout for an Operations Specialist to join Thatch. This role is vital for our company — you'll spearhead a multitude of projects and develop processes internally and externally to help Thatch’s Operations team scale. The Carrier Operations team sits at the crux of health insurance carriers, support, product and engineering. Our goal is to make healthcare simple for each and every member who joins our platform. In an industry like the US Healthcare system, the ability to make the process simple and effective can be a daunting task and we are looking for someone willing to tackle this head-on.

This role will aim to drive Operational OKRs to their completion, help build out product functionality to better fit the healthcare system landscape, spearhead carrier integration projects internally and externally and ensure our enrollment and payment processes are designed for scalability. In this dynamic startup environment, you'll grow alongside the company, taking on increasing levels of responsibility as you demonstrate success. The ideal candidate will be extremely action-oriented with not only a willingness to get their hands dirty but also an ability to take a step back and see the forest through the trees driving meaningful change. They will shape their conversations intentionally to be more effective with different stakeholders. They will be able to build successful relationships and processes with defined success metrics. Lastly, they will be unsatisfied with the status quo and will seek to push the limits on what is perceived as possible.

What you'll do
  • Own our carrier integration roadmap — Project manage direct integrations and improve existing connections by expanding capabilities, reducing errors, and streamlining workflows.
  • Drive operational reliability — Manage and continuously improve how we enroll and pay for members across carrier partners, ensuring accuracy and timeliness.
  • Lead high-impact projects — Work cross-functionally to drive operational and product initiatives that enhance our platform and member experience.
  • Develop escalation and incident protocols — Build clear playbooks and communication pathways between Support, Operations, and Carriers to ensure fast resolution of issues.
Background we're looking for
  • 7+ years in operations, consulting, or related fields at a high-growth startup or management consulting firm
  • Track record of building project teams or launching new products/initiatives
  • Experience creating effective operational processes in ambiguous environments and managing complex stakeholder relationships
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
  • Bachelor's degree required; MBA or advanced degree is a plus
Experience we’d be particularly excited about
  • Experience in health insurance or benefits
  • Vendor and operational management expertise
  • Process improvements with measurable results
  • Diverse job experience with proven significant impact
What to expect

We interview rigorously based on integrity, talent, and drive; the trust we display in our teammates from day 1 is a reflection of the confidence we have in this process. We aim to evaluate the things you’ll be doing every day as best we can, and we move quickly. Here's what to expect:

  • 15 minute phone screen to talk through your background and interest in Thatch
  • 30 minute Zoom meeting with the hiring manager to dive deeper into your experience and the role
  • 30 minute Zoom meeting to meet 4 members of the team
  • 30 minute Zoom meeting with our founders to discuss your approach to culture and our operating principles
