Roles and Responsibilities

  • Actively engage with clients to provide insight on industry best practices, compliance strategies, and help interpret NERC O&P Standards to ensure operational excellence and adherence to regulations.
  • Develop and support client NERC O&P compliance programs. Write clear and actionable procedures, guidelines, and documentation that reflects both client operations and adherence to the NERC Standards.
  • Participate in client NERC O&P regulatory mock audits and gap analysis projects in the capacity of mock auditor role, including reviews and client Subject Matter Expert (SME) interviews and training.
  • Develop compliance roadmaps, Reliability Standards Audit Worksheets (RSAWs), support client NERC registration activities, offer advice and opinions regarding BES Exceptions.
  • Provide NERC O&P compliance program audit support efforts, as requested by client.
  • Provide technical support on NERC O&P regulatory requirements and CMEP activities, including self-reports, mitigations, data submittals, and internal controls reviews and/or suggestions.
  • Lead discussions and facilitate meetings, both internally and with clients on complex NERC O&P regulatory situations.
  • Manage workload to meet project schedules and deadlines.
  • Complete projects within the specified timeframe, budgeted hours, and expected product quality.
  • Create and deploy NERC O&P Standards training, specific to client programs, Standard requirements and awareness, and client needs.
  • Monitor the NERC O&P Standards development process; participate in regional and industry meetings, as necessary.
  • Provide input and support for the Standards Compliance Intelligence Portal (SCIP) tool, including impact and recommendations specific to clients.
  • Support client calls as necessary.
  • Represent the team in communications with clients as the principal contact. Provide subject matter expertise across the company.
  • Train and mentor new team members.
  • Ability to travel 15-20% to support client(s) and/or organizational needs.

Required Qualification & Education

  • Subject matter expert with in-depth knowledge and experience with NERC O&P Reliability Standards.
  • Proven experience in conducting mock audits, gap analyses, and writing NERC compliance programs.
  • Strong understanding of audit procedures, internal controls, and NERC regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in preparing organizations for NERC audits and implementing compliance with NERC requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to prepare detailed reports and deliver presentations.
  • Ability to translate complex compliance requirements into actionable plans and training materials.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Proven client management and communication skills with the ability to resolve large issues.
  • Minimum of six (6) years of experience in NERC O&P Reliability Standards, with a strong background in compliance audits, program development, and gap analyses.
  • 10-12 years’ experience or University Degree with 6-10 years domain experience or Master’s degree with 4-8 years domain experience.

  • Ability to write clear and actionable procedures, guidelines, and documentation that reflects both client operations and adherence to the NERC Standards.
  • Proven experience in conducting mock audits, gap analyses, and writing NERC compliance programs.
  • Strong understanding of audit procedures, internal controls, and NERC regulatory compliance.
  • Experience in preparing organizations for NERC audits and implementing compliance with NERC requirements.
  • Experience working in the energy or utility sector, particularly within power generation or transmission organizations.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to distill information and present it in an understandable manner appropriate for the audience.
  • Training creation, process improvement & Root cause analysis skills.
  • Proven leadership and personal project management skills - organizing work, planning, monitoring and making tradeoffs to ensure quality deliveries
  • Proven ability to liaise with clients/internal personnel on significant issues that require high level management intervention in a professional manner.
  • Able to work as part of a larger team.
  • Self-starter with the ability to stay on task, as well as multi-task as client needs arise.

Required Software Knowledge

  • Expertise in MS Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Strong working knowledge of Adobe PDF toolsets

Preferred Skills and Competencies

  • NERC Certifications a plus.
