Position Summary

The Senior is the career/senior level of the Marketing Consultant job hierarchy. Employees at this level manage work in areas of specialization, with minimal supervision. Incumbents are expected to develop advanced skills and to have the ability to work independently, with guidance limited to unusual or complex projects or issues. They are fully competent in use of concepts. They identify problems, develop solutions and take actions to resolve. Senior Marketing Manager represents a level at which career may stabilize for many years.

Responsibilities

Segment Lead

Subject Matter Expert

  • Develop and nurture a deep understanding of their respective segments’ pain points, challenges, perspective, opportunities, potential solutions, and energy related behaviors.

  • Develop a deep understanding of how DE’s product and services related to energy efficiency, demand response, clean & renewable energy (including electric vehicles), and outdoor lighting are relevant for this segment.

  • Identify products and services that should be prioritized for this group – utilizing both external (Gartner, Esource, etc) and internal (BEA, Power BI dashboards, etc) insights.

  • Ensures the translation of product goals into marketing goals to ensure that annual market plans are developed and then executed as planned, including dynamic customer targeting. The decisions this position makes may affect the results of the work group and may have some impact on major projects or department results.

Marketing Strategy & Planning

  • Plans, develops, executes and tracks marketing plans and all associated campaigns for customer facing programs, products, including creative strategy and channel alignment. This position has responsibility for assignments with increasing scope and complexity in both inside as well as outside the scope of typical responsibility.

  • Responsible for all outbound marketing quality assurance procedures to protect customer data. Accountable for the development of product marketing budgets, managing to budgeted costs and ensuring that strategic cost alignment and accepted ROI are continuously within the Customer Solutions road map.

  • Lead the marketing strategy and execution for this segment including:

    • Paid Media Campaigns

    • Channel Strategy & Execution

​Partnership with P&S and Other Key Stakeholders

  • Report out on segment campaigns to key stakeholders including marketing colleagues, product & services colleagues, corporate communications, brand strategy and design and others as needed.

  • Consistently update and revise the marketing strategy and plan based on P&S updates, learnings, and goal progress.

  • Anticipates internal and/or external challenges and/or regulatory issues; provides advice and technical expertise in marketing execution. Serves as the liaison with regulatory affairs, program management, customer service, corporate communications, legal and other key internal and external stakeholders to build alignment on the marketing plans.

  • Works with both external and internal stakeholders to identify and prioritize marketing messages, marketing channels and paid and earned media opportunities. This position works directly with Corporate Communications on creative development that meet product goals and aligns with the brand.

Required/Basic Qualifications for Senior Level
  • Bachelor’s degree

  • Five (5) years related work experience

Desired Qualifications
  • Utility experience

  • Experience supporting agricultural and manufacturing customers

  • B2B marketing experience

Additional Preferred Qualifications
  • Proficient in advancing application of marketing theories and principles, making sound recommendations and preparing and presenting recommendations

  • Ability to deal with a variety of individuals

  • Good written and oral communication skills

  • Proficient in principles of project management

  • To perform this job, there is frequent interaction with others in the following positions at external companies, regulatory agencies or other organizations: Newsletter Content Agency, Outside Marketing Agencies and Consultants, external product management vendors and administrators, Legal council

Working Conditions
  • Hybrid – Work will be performed from both remote and onsite locations after the onboarding period. However, hybrid employees should live within a reasonable commute to the designated Duke Energy facility.

Specific Requirements
  • Minimum of 5 years work experience OR 4 years work experience with a Master’s degree
