Job Overview:

The Senior Operations Specialist’s role in the Margins department includes daily monitoring and maintenance of items not limited to margin call activity, debit balances, and trade-related items within LPL Financial accounts according to firm and regulatory guidelines.  Senior Specialists are responsible for handling escalations from other team members and have a good knowledge of margin regulatory guidelines. Additionally, the Senior Specialist assists management with the completion and review of various risk-based reports and projects. 

Responsibilities:

  • Intermediate problem solving of issues identified on daily risk reports and decision making over potential risk items such as options and regulatory violations, including initiating sales, buy-ins, and trade corrections.
  • Effectively through escalation resolution. Ownership of all tasks, follow-up, enforcement, and escalation of unresolved items.
  • Reviewing, calculating, reconciling, communicating, and enforcement of firm and regulatory guidelines as it relates to margin calls and maintenance requirements.
  • Monitoring, analysis, communication, and enforcement of firm and regulatory guidelines as it relates to Trade related items and Regulation T requirements.
  • Resolving issues, including researching and resolving non-Trade items, such as short positions, debits.
  • Reviewing and completing various departmental reports associated with Risk based reporting.
  • Interacting daily with LPL Financial Advisors, department management as well as various departments within LPL Financial to meet firm and regulatory deadlines.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree, preferably in Finance or related field
  • 1+ years’ experience of general brokerage industry knowledge

Core Competencies:

  • The ability to work in a cross-functional team and multi-task in a fast-paced, deadline driven environment 
  • The ability to prioritize responsibilities to ensure deadlines provided by regulators and firm are followed, along with the ability to identify, understand, and manage firm risk 
  • Strong communication skills, both written and oral, and willingness to speak up, talk to advisors and stakeholders 
  • Ability to lead training for newly hired employees
  • Strong organizational and analytical skills with demonstrated ability to evaluate business opportunities and evaluate results against established objectives

Preferences:

  • Margins experience or Operations experience
  • Understanding of BETA
  • Analytical mindset and experience working with data and reporting
  • Financial instrument experience (trading equities, fixed income, CDs)
  • Proficient with Microsoft Excel and Access
  • FINRA Securities Industry Essentials (SIE) certification, Series 7 or 99

 

Pay Range:

$16.73-$27.88/hour
 
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
