At Counterpart Health, we are transforming healthcare and improving patient care through Counterpart Assistant, our technology platform for primary care. By supporting primary care physicians and their teams, we help identify patient needs earlier, make complex clinical information actionable, and support longitudinal management of chronic conditions.
As Senior Manager of UX Design for the Interventions Pillar, you will lead the team designing how clinical insight becomes action. Your portfolio will include decision support, treatment planning, intervention selection, treatment execution, care coordination, and longitudinal follow-through.
You will manage talented, experienced designers who already understand our product, systems, and clinical users deeply. Your role is to help them expand their strategic ownership, make stronger decisions through ambiguity, influence across the organization, and define the future of their domains.
AI will be an important part of this work. You will guide teams in applying AI where it can help clinicians synthesize information, evaluate options, plan care, and follow through—while preserving appropriate evidence, transparency, and clinical control.
Why this role?
The Interventions Pillar addresses a central challenge in healthcare: identifying an opportunity is not enough. Better outcomes require translating insight into an appropriate decision, treatment plan, action, and durable follow-through.
This role is an opportunity to:
● Shape how Counterpart supports consequential clinical decisions and treatment workflows.
● Develop senior designers into stronger strategic and organizational leaders.
● Define how AI can responsibly assist clinical reasoning and action.
● Connect clinical expertise, product strategy, design, and technology around measurable outcomes.

As a Senior Manager, UX Design, you will:

  • Lead the clinical UX strategy. Establish a coherent direction across clinical decision support, treatment planning, intervention selection, execution, coordination, and longitudinal follow-through.
  • Develop senior design talent. Coach experienced designers to lead through ambiguity, define strategy, make high-quality trade-offs, influence senior stakeholders, and increase their impact beyond their immediate product areas.
  • Advance AI-enabled clinical workflows. Help teams determine where AI should synthesize information, generate options, recommend next steps, automate work, or remain out of the workflow. Establish expectations for evidence, uncertainty, human oversight, review, and correction.
  • Create strong cross-functional decisions. Partner with Clinical, Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Research leaders to connect clinical needs, model capabilities, user evidence, technical constraints, and business priorities.
  • Raise the quality and effectiveness of execution. Strengthen critique, research synthesis, clinical review, prototyping, evaluation, and learning practices so teams can move efficiently without oversimplifying consequential problems.

Success in this role looks like:
This leader will bring deep expertise in clinical-product design while creating strategic alignment and design leverage across the Interventions pods.

  • In the first 90 days, establish leadership and strategic alignment by building strong partnerships with product directors, ensuring balanced workloads, and embedding design as a critical part of business strategy. Success will be measured by stakeholder feedback, stronger design integration, and improved operational effectiveness.
  • In the first 6 months, focus on delivering impact by deepening user understanding, embedding research insights into design decisions, and pushing for best-in-class UX. Accelerate iteration cycles, reducing time-to-insight by 30%, while fostering a culture of experimentation and autonomy. Guide the team in complex problem-solving, balancing constraints, and proactively shaping solutions.
  • Beyond six months, scale strategic impact and industry influence by positioning design as a key business driver, ensuring UX directly contributes to engagement, provider adoption, and overall user experience. You will push for consumer-grade, next-gen experiences that redefine digital healthcare while strengthening team expertise, fostering strategic thinking, and elevating design’s role in product direction. Success will be measured by design’s ability to drive best-in-class UX, shape industry standards, and create tangible product improvements that shift user expectations.

You should get in touch if:

  • You have 7+ years of design experience in a design environment (in-house, agency, or relevant industry), with 5+ years of managing people.
  • You have led complex, high-consequence workflows in healthcare or another expert professional domain.
  • You bring strong judgment in interaction design, information design, research, and product strategy— and know how to coach others without taking over their work. You can demonstrate how you have helped experienced designers grow from strong executors into strategic decision-makers and organizational leaders.
  • You have experience with AI-enabled products or can demonstrate sound judgment about recommendations, automation, evidence, uncertainty, and human oversight.
  • You have experience in complex systems and applications, knowing how to simplify the complex and create delightful, intuitive experiences.
  • You are an advocate for collaboration, working closely with product and engineering to ensure design is a driver of business outcomes, not just execution.
  • You are excited about shaping the future of healthcare UX – bringing the same level of quality and innovation seen in leading consumer products to an industry that desperately needs it.
