Job Overview

Relativity is seeking a strategically-minded and analytically sharp professional to lead our engagement with the dynamic and fast-evolving AI startup ecosystem in Legal Technology. This role will drive insight, prioritization, and action across emerging AI and Agentic technologies redefining how work is done within eDiscovery and Legal Data Intelligence, as well as in the broader Legal landscape.
Your work will directly influence Relativity’s strategic choices around partnerships, investments, and acquisitions to ensure we remain at the forefront of legal innovation, as well as informing broader strategic planning and prioritization in a rapidly transforming market.
This role is designed for someone who thrives at the intersection of emerging technology, market intelligence, and strategic growth, with a strong understanding of workflows in the Legal Data Intelligence and broader Legal ecosystem.

Job Description and Requirements

Key Responsibilities 

  • Market and Customer Intelligence: Build and maintain proprietary market maps of emerging Legal AI and Agentic startups; engage directly with law firms, corporate legal teams, and end users to assess perceptions of Legal AI solutions, identify unmet needs, validate adoption blockers, and ground strategic decisions in real-world feedback 

  • Company Analysis and Prioritization: Conduct independent research to develop a working understanding of companies in the landscape (technical foundations, GTM and commercial motions, product strategy, etc.); screen companies to identify high-potential companies aligned to Relativity’s strategic vision and market insights 

  • Opportunity Scoping and Evaluation: Partner with key leaders across the business (Product, Partnerships, Finance, Legal, etc.) to assess opportunities for partnership with, investment into, or acquisition of prioritized targets based on strategic fit and product complementarity 

  • Strategic Engagement: Initiate, build, and maintain trusted relationships with founders and senior leaders of identified companies and Legal Tech investors, expanding Relativity’s network across the Legal Tech landscape; advance key relationships with prioritized target companies 

  • Strategic Insight and Thought Leadership: Synthesize key findings from landscape, company, customer, and market analysis for internal briefings and to ultimately inform strategic planning and executive decision-making. 

 

Qualifications and experience 

  • 5+ years of experience in strategy, business or corporate development, or due diligence 

  • Deep domain knowledge in eDiscovery and/or broader Legal Technology, with familiarity in legal operations, law firm workflows, legal professional services, and AI-driven legal innovation 

  • Strong technical/business acumen AND past experience or familiarity working with cloud and AI technologies, products, or services 

  • Extensive experience working with and / or evaluating SaaS companies preferred 

  • Strong familiarity with the legal AI startup ecosystem, and ideally a network within early-stage legal tech or venture investing communities preferred 

Skills 

  • Strong analytical and strategic thinking skills with the ability to independently conduct market intelligence and assess companies, technologies, and markets 

  • Excellent communication and storytelling skills (verbal and written) with fluency in communicating technical and strategic themes to senior stakeholders and distilling complex technology trends into actionable insights 

  • Experience conducting customer interviews and translating qualitative feedback into strategic recommendations 

  • Intellectually curious, analytically rigorous, and comfortable navigating ambiguity to drive clarity and execution 

  • Comfort working independently in a fast-paced environment with a hands-on approach and a bias for action 

  • Excellent relationship building and cross-functional collaboration skills 

Relativity is committed to competitive, fair, and equitable compensation practices.

This position is eligible for total compensation which includes a competitive base salary, an annual performance bonus, and long-term incentives.

The expected salary range for this role is between following values:

$158,000 and $236,000

The final offered salary will be based on several factors, including but not limited to the candidate's depth of experience, skill set, qualifications, and internal pay equity. Hiring at the top end of the range would not be typical, to allow for future meaningful salary growth in this position.
