About the Role:
The Senior Manager, Software Engineering – Finance Infrastructure leads the engineering team responsible for EasyPost’s financial platform, including billing, payments, and financial data integrity. This role operates within the Platform Department and reports directly to the Platform Senior Director of Engineering. The manager ensures the security, reliability, and scalability of financial infrastructure, manages team health and staffing, and guides technical decision-making aligned with business needs. This role delivers core infrastructure that enables product engineering teams to track usage and cost attribution reliably, while working closely with Finance, Product, and customer-facing teams. The team’s work is critical to accurate, scalable, and observable financial data systems across the company. Reliability is paramount; everything we do must support consistency, correctness, and uptime. This is a highly specialized role that demands both technical depth and interpersonal breadth—success requires managing risk, understanding high-level architecture, and consulting effectively with a wide range of engineering and product teams. What You Will Do:
The essential functions include, but are not limited to the following:
o Lead the Finance Infrastructure engineering team to deliver secure, scalable financial infrastructure.
o Maintain and improve platform stability, monitoring, and issue response processes to ensure high availability and compliance.
o Oversee roadmap development and execution for infrastructure that enables accurate usage tracking and cost attribution.
o Coordinate across departments to support development of real-time billing and financial data capabilities for new products.
o Guide technical decision-making across systems and teams to ensure solutions meet long-term needs.
o Foster a strong engineering culture, including staffing plans, 1:1s, mentoring, and recruiting top talent.
o Advocate for architectural clarity and maintain a strong platform mindset with clear service boundaries.
o Promote best practices around security, observability, and maintainability of finance systems.
o Partner with internal stakeholders and customers to define requirements, communicate status, and deliver tools that integrate into their product development lifecycle.
Minimum Education & Experience Qualifications:
o Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Software Engineering, or a related field.
o 7+ years of professional software development experience, with 3+ years in engineering leadership roles.
o Deep knowledge of software design, system architecture, and scalable services, particularly in Finance or SaaS environments.
o Proven experience in building and maintaining financial or billing platforms.
o Strong understanding of service-oriented architectures and horizontal scalability.
o Excellent written and verbal communication skills for cross-functional collaboration.
o Demonstrated ability to drive delivery and align technical decisions with business objectives.
