We are currently hiring for two Senior Manager, Principal & Major Gifts positions—one overseeing a team in the Central Region and the other in the Southeast Region. Preference will be given to candidates who reside within or have strong ties to these respective regions.

This Senior Manager serves as a key leader within Compassion International’s Global Philanthropic Engagement department, tasked with developing, building, and managing a portfolio of high-net-worth prospective and current donors to help achieve Compassion’s annual and long-term revenue goals. Operating in a management capacity, this individual oversees a small to moderate-sized team of frontline fundraisers. Responsibilities include hiring, coaching, performance management, and—when necessary—discipline and termination. The Senior Manager directs, guides, and empowers the team by assigning, reviewing, and approving work aligned with departmental strategies and objectives. They ensure the successful execution of departmental responsibilities by leveraging available resources and maintaining alignment with budgetary parameters.

This role also requires proven experience leading through large-scale fundraising campaigns, including high-touch donor cultivation strategies, and cross-functional collaboration to drive transformational giving.

What will you do?

  • Maintains a personal relationship with Jesus Christ. Is a consistent witness for Jesus Christ, maintains a courteous, Christ-like attitude in dealing with people within and outside of Compassion, and faithfully upholds Compassion’s ministry in prayer.

  • Acts as an advocate to raise the awareness of the needs of children. Understands Christ’s mandate to protect children. Commits to and prioritizes child protection considerations in all decision-making, tasks and activities across the ministry. Abides by all behavioral expectations in Compassion’s Statement of Commitment to Child Protection and Code of Conduct. Reports any concerns of abuse, neglect or exploitation of children through Compassion’s internal reporting process and appropriately supports responses to incidents if they occur.

  • Uphold and engage in Compassion’s core Cultural Behaviors.

  • Works with department leaders to create and deliver a clearly defined principal and major gift fundraising strategy, including short and long-term measurable KPIs and growth goals for each member of the team.

  • Executes strategic fundraising initiatives with a strong focus on qualifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding a robust portfolio of major and principal donors—engaging high-level constituents in meaningful partnership with Compassion’s ministry to release children from poverty in Jesus’ name.

  • Shepherds and strengthens the fundraising team through a coaching-centered approach that nurtures both professional growth and spiritual maturity—empowering team members to pursue their goals and steward their calling with excellence.

  • Oversees the creation and execution of comprehensive fundraising forecasts, ensuring that strategic plans and timelines for each donor relationship are effectively managed to meet or exceed revenue goals.

  • Regularly represents Compassion and advocates for children in need across diverse platforms and audiences—including prospective and current donors, partners, and constituents. Tailors messaging with discernment and clarity, drawing on deep knowledge of Compassion’s ministry model, programs, and impact to inspire engagement and generosity.

  • Supports the development and oversight of the annual budget and departmental expenditures, ensuring fiscal responsibility and timely execution of deliverables aligned with strategic objectives.

What do you bring?

  • Track record of securing $10M+ in annual revenue, with demonstrated success leading high-impact fundraising teams and initiatives.

  • Proven ability to solicit and close six- and seven-figure gifts from a diverse portfolio of principal and major donors.

  • Proficient in leveraging technology and data systems (e.g., Salesforce, Tableau) to drive donor engagement, portfolio management, and performance analytics.

  • Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field required; advanced degree or CFRE certification preferred.

  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience in fundraising, development, or nonprofit leadership, with increasing levels of responsibility.

  • Professional certification from a nationally or internationally recognized organization in fundraising, nonprofit management, or a related discipline.
