Trase is at the forefront of AI Agent innovation, topping the Hugging Face GAIA Leaderboard for Generalized AI Assistants, ahead of industry giants such as Google, Meta, Microsoft, and OpenAI. We are leveraging our cutting-edge technologies to develop mission-critical agentic applications in complex industries such as Healthcare, Oil & Gas, and National Security.

About the Role

We are seeking a self-driven Senior Engineering Manager to help scale and execute our engineering efforts. Reporting to the Director of Engineering, this leader will drive day-to-day engineering execution, ensure delivery across multiple product verticals, and provide technical depth in both full-stack development and AI/ML.

This role is ideal for someone who thrives in ambiguity, moves fast, and is energized by the intersection of AI, infrastructure, security, and real-world enterprise workloads.

Responsibilities
  • Lead Engineering Execution: Own sprint planning, standups, retrospectives, backlog grooming, and cross-functional coordination. Drive delivery across multiple product areas, including AI agents, workflow automation, integrations, and UI/backend systems.
  • Build & Maintain Engineering Metrics: Design and maintain dashboards and reporting systems covering capacity, velocity, lead time, deployment quality, resource utilization, and other performance KPIs. Identify trends and surface risks early through data-driven insights.
  • Technical Leadership & Mentorship: Provide architectural guidance for full-stack and AI/ML components. Shape design decisions, enforce high code quality, and ensure scalable and compliant infrastructure.
  • Process Optimization & Operational Excellence: Identify bottlenecks and friction points across teams. Implement process improvements and reinforce engineering best practices to improve speed, stability, and collaboration.
  • Cross‑Functional Collaboration: Collaborate closely with Product, Security, and Compliance to meet business requirements and regulatory needs (e.g., SOC2, HIPAA). Ensure all deliverables meet enterprise-grade standards.
  • Support Team Growth & Scalability: Help onboard and grow engineering talent, especially junior and mid-level engineers. Maintain high standards of execution as the organization scales.
  • Self‑Starter Mindset: Take ownership of undefined or evolving problems, propose and implement solutions independently, and adapt quickly in a fast-paced environment.
Requirements
  • 8+ years of engineering leadership or management experience within full-stack or AI/ML-focused environments.
  • Hands-on background building and shipping enterprise-grade software, preferably with experience deploying models or agents, integrating ML services, and working across backend, frontend, and data pipelines.
  • Strong grasp of Agile/Scrum with a proven track record of leading teams to successful delivery.
  • Deep familiarity with observability, capacity planning, service level management, performance monitoring, and end-to-end software delivery lifecycle.
  • Experience operating in environments with strict security and compliance requirements.
  • Strong cross-functional communication skills and ability to partner with product, design, compliance, and security teams.
  • Ability to dive deep technically–software architecture, backend/frontend integration, AI/ML system design, scalable infrastructure, observability, and deployment pipelines.
  • Self-motivated, bias for action, comfortable with ambiguity, able to take proactive initiative and ownership of end-to-end outcomes.
  • Comfortable navigating startup-like environments: ambiguity, rapid change, evolving priorities, fast-paced deliverables.
  • Data/metrics-driven: you believe in using dashboards, KPIs, and data-backed insights to inform decisions, track progress, and surface issues early.
  • Demonstrated success working in teams that ship fast and iterate quickly while maintaining quality, stability, and security.
Benefits
  • 100% employer-paid, comprehensive health care including medical, dental, and vision for you and your family.
  • Paid maternity and paternity for 14 weeks at employees' normal pay.
  • Unlimited PTO, with management approval.
  • Opportunities for professional development and continued learning with educational reimbursements.
  • Optional 401K, FSA, and equity incentives available.
  • Mental health benefits through TARA Mind.
