What You'll Do:
Craft the Vision: Define and execute a compelling vision for developer success that aligns with SailPoint's business outcomes and long-term platform strategy. You'll have the opportunity to build upon the strong foundation of our existing developer program, enhancing and scaling it to achieve industry-leading excellence.
Lead and Inspire: Mentor and grow a team of talented developer advocates and engineers, fostering a culture of innovation and collaboration. Help them reach their full potential, while also contributing significantly to the company's success.
Enhance Collaboration: Work closely with the marketing team to further align our developer and customer community experiences, leveraging our existing strong working relationships to create a more cohesive and seamless journey.
Be the Developer's Advocate: Partner with Engineering, UX, and Product teams to build and improve the developer experience, championing the needs of our community. You'll be instrumental in shaping the future of our platform.
Empower Through Knowledge: Drive the creation of technical resources, best practices, and self-service tools that enable developers to thrive on our Identity Security Cloud platform. You'll be empowering developers to build innovative solutions on our platform.
Eliminate Friction: Identify and remove pain points in the developer journey, making it easy for developers to onboard, build, and succeed with SailPoint. You'll be streamlining the developer experience and accelerating innovation.
Stay Ahead of the Curve: Continuously evaluate emerging technologies and best practices, positioning SailPoint as a leading developer-friendly platform in the identity security space. You'll be ensuring that our platform remains at the forefront of innovation.
Build a Thriving Community: Collaborate with the SailPoint Community team to drive developer engagement, adoption, and success among customers, partners, and aspiring SailPoint developers. You'll be fostering a vibrant and engaged community around our platform.
Educate and Empower Partners: Enable partners to extend and build robust solutions for SailPoint customers, expanding the reach of our platform. You'll be expanding the reach of our platform and driving new business opportunities.
Showcase the Magic: Liaise with Marketing, Sales, and Customer Success to showcase SailPoint's developer tools and platform extensibility to prospects and customers. You'll be evangelizing our platform and driving adoption.
Strategic Alignment: Develop a comprehensive strategy for developer journeys, considering different types of developers (customer admins, third-party ISVs, etc.) and aligning the customer's admin journey with the broader customer journey.
Platform Expansion: Collaborate with our platform team to extend the platform through the developer network, driving innovation and creating new opportunities.
Lead the Charge: Represent SailPoint at industry events and lead our annual developer conference, showcasing our platform and engaging with the developer community.
What You'll Bring:
A background in engineering (Computer Science degree or equivalent experience preferred).
A passion for empowering developers and building thriving communities.
Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills (you're as comfortable presenting at a conference as you are collaborating with engineers).
Proven experience in external-facing roles, such as speaking at conferences or engaging with developers online.
10+ years of relevant work experience, including previous experience managing a Developer Relations team at a SaaS company.
Hands-on experience building web applications utilizing web service APIs (proficiency in languages like C++, Ruby, Python, Java, .NET, Node.js, etc.).
A proven track record of managing complex projects and programs.
Deep knowledge of API architectures, MVC design patterns, and cloud technologies (e.g., Amazon Web Services).
Familiarity with Agile/Scrum development methodologies and authorization/authentication standards (SAML, OAuth, Kerberos, etc.).

Within 30 Days:
Meet the team, key stakeholders, and cross-functional partners.
Familiarize yourself with SailPoint's Identity Security Cloud platform, developer tools, and APIs.
Assess the current state of the developer program, identifying strengths, weaknesses, and opportunities for improvement.
Within 60 Days:
Develop a preliminary vision and strategy for developer success, aligning with SailPoint's business objectives.
Establish a strong working relationship with the marketing team, identifying opportunities for collaboration and synergy.
Begin to identify and address immediate pain points in the developer journey.
Within 90 Days:
Present a comprehensive developer relations strategy to leadership, outlining key initiatives and measurable goals.
Implement initial improvements to the developer experience, based on community feedback and best practices.
Begin planning for the annual developer conference, ensuring a compelling and engaging experience for attendees.
Within 6 Months:
Successfully execute key initiatives outlined in the developer relations strategy, demonstrating measurable progress.
Foster a thriving and engaged developer community, driving adoption of SailPoint's platform and tools.
Establish SailPoint as a leading developer-friendly platform in the identity security space.

Benefits and Compensation listed vary based on the location of your employment and the nature of your employment with SailPoint.
As a part of the total compensation package, this role may be eligible for the SailPoint Corporate Bonus Plan or a role-specific commission, along with potential eligibility for equity participation. SailPoint maintains broad salary ranges for its roles to account for variations in knowledge, skills, experience, market conditions and locations, as well as reflect SailPoint’s differing products, industries, and lines of business. Candidates are typically placed into the range based on the preceding factors as well as internal peer equity. We estimate the base salary, for US-based employees, will be in this range from (min-mid-max, USD):
$154,400 - $220,500 - $286,700Base salaries for employees based in other locations are competitive for the employee’s home location.
