At Coinbase, our mission is to increase economic freedom in the world. It’s a massive, ambitious opportunity that demands the best of us, every day, as we build the emerging onchain platform — and with it, the future global financial system.

To achieve our mission, we’re seeking a very specific candidate. We want someone who is passionate about our mission and who believes in the power of crypto and blockchain technology to update the financial system. We want someone who is eager to leave their mark on the world, who relishes the pressure and privilege of working with high caliber colleagues, and who actively seeks feedback to keep leveling up. Our work culture is intense and isn’t for everyone. But if you want to build the future alongside others who excel in their disciplines and expect the same from you, there’s no better place to be.

Business Development at Coinbase accelerates strategic product priorities and delivers impact via partnerships.

You will collaborate closely with product management, business development, legal, and executive leadership to develop analytics and provide insights to initiatives that drive revenue and expenses across partnership touch-points, as well as develop strategies and identify opportunities to grow via new initiatives.

The ideal candidate will be ready to embrace diverse business cultures, sign groundbreaking deals, and hustle towards the growth and success of Coinbase in new markets and product areas.

What you’ll be doing (ie. job duties):

  • Own all elements of the partnership life cycle: scoping of opportunities, identifying potential partners, framing of value, negotiating agreements and implementation and optimization
  • Maintain and manage productive relationships with partners, resolving business, policy and technical issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with Product, Marketing, Comms, Compliance, and Legal to execute GTM strategy and sign high-impact partnerships
  • Manage and mentor a team responsible for deal execution, strategy formulation, and partner management.

What we look for in you (ie. job requirements):

  • 10+ years of experience across strategic deal-oriented roles with global exposure at a financial services, crypto or fintech company. Examples include: business development, corporate development, new market expansion, and partnerships
  • Experience in crypto and/or payments with a longstanding passion for the space
  • Exceptional interpersonal communication, relationship management, and organizational skills, including navigating complex organizational dynamics to deliver cross-team results
  • Deep analytical, prioritization, and problem solving skills and proven experience using data to identify actionable insights resulting in better product outcomes
  • Proven ability to mentor and motivate high-performing teams
