The Opportunity

One of our aspirations in Vanguard’s Personal Wealth division is to be the most trusted advice and wealth provider in the industry by 2030.  To do so, we must continue to earn clients’ trust in helping them save, invest, and make decisions across a broader range of financial goals and needs. This leader will play a central role in unlocking the full power of Vanguard’s expertise for this purpose.

The Role: Head of Program Office, Advice Enablement & Thought Leadership

The Head of our Advice Enablement and Thought Leadership Program Office will lead the cross-functional engine that develops strategy and turns strategy into execution. You will architect a strategic thought leadership roadmap and translate that roadmap into a steady stream of relevant, client-centered perspectives across disciplines ranging from savings and investments to retirement, tax, insurance, and estate planning.   You will enable financial advisors, relationship managers, and other client-facing crew to serve clients with excellence across a broad range of financial disciplines and solutions we offer. Your team will also partner with Vanguard’s AI program team to ensure our advice and wealth methodology knowledge base enables AI-powered digital advice and guidance.

You will deliver on this agenda by collaborating across functions and building trusted partnerships with marketing, communications, advice & wealth solutions, investment strategy & product, practice management, business leaders, and legal, risk & compliance. You will shape and refine our operating model, establish governance and editorial processes and controls, and create the conditions for teams to thrive in pursuit of shared goals across our partner ecosystem.

If you’re looking for a role where your strategic and systems thinking, organizational skills, relationship management, and ability to lead and work across functions directly influence how we improve financial outcomes, this is a great opportunity.

In this role, you will improve how millions of individuals and their families experience Vanguard’s expertise and guidance in the moments that matter most to them financially. It will be a hard, fun, purpose-driven, and incredibly rewarding journey.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Leadership: Define and lead thought leadership and enablement strategies that improve client outcomes and experiences.

  • Systems Builder: Build, refine, and execute a content development ecosystem that positions Vanguard as a leading advice and wealth provider.

  • Strategic Planning: Develop thought leadership and business enablement roadmaps. Orchestrate across partners to execute on those roadmaps with clarity and quality. Establish planning rhythms (annual, quarterly, monthly) and editorial review processes to ensure strategic alignment and editorial quality.

  • Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with thought leaders, marketing, communications, business units, and control functions in a collaborative, thoughtful way that builds trust and clarity, and creates the conditions for teams to do their best work.

  • Go-to-Market Execution: Ensure new and enhanced financial planning and investment solutions are seamlessly integrated into crew readiness and thought leadership plans for go-to-market execution and post-implementation support.

  • Team Leadership & Mentorship: Provide guidance, coaching, and performance management for direct reports. Develop talent. Foster a culture of excellence, collaboration, continuous learning, and trust. Set high bar for clarity, client-centricity, curiosity, quality, and simplicity in what we do and how we operate.

  • Performance Measurement: Define and measure success for advice enablement and thought leadership programs.

  • Executive Communication: Deliver high-impact materials and presentations that articulate strategy, execution, performance, and value to senior stakeholders.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of eight years of related work experience, three years of strategic program management experience.

  • Undergraduate degree in Marketing, Communications, or equivalent field that fosters advanced communication skills. Graduate degree preferred.

  • Program and project management experience is required. Track record of increasingly broad and complex program management is a plus.

  • Broad knowledge of the financial advice and wealth industry is a plus, but a deep curiosity in the industry is sufficient.
