As the Senior Engineering Manager, in the Public Site Product Family you will lead multiple teams supporting Vanguard’s digital marketing web experiences.  Leveraging your extensive knowledge of the Adobe Experience Cloud, specifically AEM, Launch, WebSDK and Target, you will drive business outcomes that lead to higher engagement and conversions of our prospects and clients.  In partnership with Product Managers and Engineering Managers across the Public Site family, develop and build the engineering subject matter expertise required to support Vanguard’s web ecosystem.

In this role you will:

  • Collaborate with Product Managers, architects, UX strategists and web teams to deliver next generation, data driven client experiences.
  • Maintain working knowledge of the Adobe Experience Cloud, including AEM, Launch, WebSDK, and Target to meet and exceed the needs of Vanguard marketing and customer experience teams.
  • Partner with cross‑channel leaders (mobile, email, advisor, call center, secure site) to ensure consistent, connected investor journeys across touchpoints.
  • Partner with analytics and data teams to translate behavioral data into actionable product and engineering decisions.
  • Own platform reliability, scalability, and operational excellence for DLG teams.
  • Ensure engineering decisions balance performance and security.
  • Identify and resolve technical issues and develop and implement continuous improvements in support of marketing and customer experience teams.
  • Hire, evaluate, and manage a team of high performing engineers with a passion for developing innovative solutions.  Define skill requirements for each team member and measure team member skills to define development and upskilling plans.
  • Develop future technical and people leaders through intentional coaching, mentoring, and succession planning
  • Set performance standards, reviews performance, and makes informed compensation decisions in accordance with all applicable Human Resources policies and procedures.
  • Understand and comply with IT policies and procedures, Enterprise Data Governance, Privacy, Legal, and Information Security policies and procedures, and verifies deliverables meet requirements.
  • Ensure compliance implementations aligned with privacy, consent, and regulatory constraints.
  • Lead, coordinate and participate in special projects and perform other duties as assigned.

What it takes: (must have)

  • 10+ years of professional IT experience
  • 5+ years working experience with AEM in headful and headless deployments
  • 3+ years working knowledge of Adobe Launch/webSDK, Adobe Target
  • 5+ years hands on experience with web development & architecture, including HTML, CSS, JavaScript
  • Marketing acumen and understanding of how to integrate and leverage MarTech platforms to automate and orchestrate highly personalized web prospect and client experiences
  • The ability to translate marketing use cases and business requirements into technical specifications, and scalable and practical solutions that deliver business outcomes
  • Strong process knowledge and orientation to deliver business outcomes
  • 7+ years utilizing Agile development practices, including scrum, Kanban and lean
  • Experience using modern software development and engineering practices, including DevOps, test automation and test-driven development, Site Reliability Engineering
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.  The ability to present to technical and non-technical platform users, stakeholders, and executive audiences
  • Undergraduate degree or equivalent combination of training and experience

  • Strong leadership skills with experience managing technical teams and driving strategic initiatives.
  • Experience with Gen AI and related development tools (Claude Code, Playwright, Figma Make)
  • Experience with SEO and site optimization tools, including Google Core Web Vitals
  • Mobile Development experience
  • Experience exporting content from AEM via JSON (Content Fragments, Experience Fragments, Sling Model Exporter, model.json)
  • Experience with React and React Native
  • Experience with AWS, including EC2, ECS, VPC, Security Groups, S3 and EFS
  • Experience with Content Delivery Networks (CDN), Akamai, Cloudflare, CloudFront
  • Experience with Adobe Experience Platform (AEP), Adobe Journey Optimizer (AJO) and Adobe Customer Journey Analytics (CJA)
  • Familiarity with Adobe Experience Manager as a Cloud Service
  • Familiarity with tag managers (Adobe Launch, Tealium, Segment, Google, Ensighten)
  • Familiarity with Java Script frameworks (Angular, React, Vue, Bootstrap) and node.js
  • Experience in the financial services industry
