About the Role
As the Senior Manager, Accounting, you will have a direct impact on accounting and reporting activities for a fast-growing, public biotech.
Reporting to the Director of SEC Reporting and Technical Accounting, you will be responsible for (i) managing the monthly book closing activities such as preparation of journal entries, financial analyses, supporting documentation and financial statements, (ii) assisting with SEC reporting and technical accounting activities, (iii) assisting with management and execution of our independent audit and Sarbanes-Oxley activities, and (iv) supporting other activities such as the administration of our share-based compensation programs, management of our collaboration arrangements, etc. You must have experience working with public companies and/or public accounting experience to be successful in this role.

Key Responsibilities
- The Senior Manager, Accounting will be a key member of the Dianthus finance team, working with business leaders across the organization.
- Assist with the oversight of all accounting functions including but not limited to accounts receivable, accounts payable, general ledger, fixed assets, payroll, and purchasing.
- Assist with the preparation and analysis of accruals/prepaids for clinical trials, manufacturing and other research and development activities. Work closely with functional leads to update the status of work orders. Prepare and/or review related journal entries and supporting financial schedules.
- Assist with the preparation of financial statements and other related reports including but not limited to balance sheets, income statements, cash-flow reports, budgets, footnotes, and variance analysis.
- Assist with the activities related to the annual audit and quarterly reviews.
- Assist with the Sarbanes-Oxley activities including updating system documentation, testing controls, remediating control deficiencies and coordinating efforts with the internal and external auditors.
- Keep up to date on overall activities of the team, identifying problem areas and taking corrective actions.
- Assist with the implementation of accounting systems, policies, and procedures.
- Other duties as assigned.
- Experience supervising others in a direct line or dotted line function.
- Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
- Responsibilities may include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Experience
- Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) or equivalent required; MBA or CPA preferred.
- Experience working within a biotech / pharmaceutical company is strongly preferred.
- Strong knowledge of accounting and finance operations, including a strong understanding of expense recognition criteria for clinical development activities.
- Strong organizational, problem-solving, and analytical skills; ability to manage priorities and workflow.
- Experience with ERP systems (general ledger, accounts payable, etc.).
- Commitment to excellence, accuracy and high standards.
- Versatility, flexibility, and a willingness to work within changing priorities with enthusiasm.
- Ability to work with all levels of management.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and PowerPoint.
